DJ Spinderella has been behind the turntables for decades, and now she’s made history too.

At this year’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in Los Angeles, Salt-N-Pepa were officially inducted, and became the first female DJ ever to receive the honor.

In her speech, Spinderella reflected on how far she’s come. “When I started, it was a rare thing to see a woman behind turntables. It was literally the boys club, so I had to carve my own lane. I had to show up and I never missed a beat.”

And she really didn’t. She broke through a male-dominated space and helped shape a generation of music, opening doors for so many women who followed.
