Hi y’all, it’s that time again - the June calendar and map of Logandale is here! We’re so excited to share this month’s edition of our beloved map highlighting all the amazing small businesses in our corridor. From cozy cafes to unique boutiques, there are so many gems and fun events! It’s been such a joy to see our community come together and support each other, especially during the construction. This map started as a way to help our businesses through that challenging time, but it’s grown into something truly special. So take a, check out our vibrant neighborhood, and don’t forget to spread the love by tagging any spots we might have missed. And if you’re a local business owner who wants to be featured, just shoot us an email and we’ll make sure you receive an email to fill out our questionnaire for next month. In the meantime, we tagged as many small businesses as we’re allowed!

Three of our favorite flowers for spring weddings!

1. Peonies. Not only are they main character energy, in the language of flowers they are associated with romance, elegance and abundance. Bonus points for them because we can more often than not source them locally in spring!

2. Muscari (Grape Hyacinth). Cutie little shades of blue, great for a pop of color and lovely in lapel boutonnieres

3. Fresh lavender. The most soothing fragrance and their movement adds an organic feel to the design of the bouquet.📷:

Hey there! 👋🏼 I thought I’d share a bit about myself in this post. I’m usually pretty camera-shy, but I’m working on getting more comfortable putting myself out there. 😊 It’s been quite a journey since I first opened Fleur way back in 2002 at the young age of 22. I know everyone had their opinions about me starting a business so young (I don’t blame them), but flowers have always been a huge part of my life. Growing up on the southwest side of Chicago, our little bungalow was bursting with flowers and veggies that my parents somehow managed to squeeze into every available inch. 🌸🌿 As a kid, I was obsessed with clipping out photos of stunning gardens from magazines (some of which I still have for inspiration!). I always daydreamed about being featured in a Martha Stewart publication...and you know what? Dreams really do come true (manifest it). ✨ My background is in art history and I’m still obsessed with that.
These days, one of my greatest joys is teaching floral design to others and continuing to learn and grow myself. I’m also slowly rekindling my love for social media after falling out of love with it in 2020. When I’m not playing with flowers, you can find me hanging out with my partner and our backyard chickens 🐓 in the Kilbourn Park/Avondale neighborhood of Chicago (seems like everyone has a different name for it!). I’m also excitedly (and nervously!) working on a design book - so if you know anyone who wants to help make that happen, let me know! 😉 I’ve always been passionate about art and painting, and of course, cooking is my meditation and love language. 👩🏻‍🍳 Thanks for reading and letting me share a bit of my story with you!
