My husband's grandmother had a reputation for being very generous. If you took the time to visit with her, you never left empty-handed. Before you left her presence, she'd excuse herself and say, "I have something for you". She would go into her cedar chest and pull out a high end quality parting gift. My husband enjoyed the company of his grandmother and said he just couldn't wait to see what she had in that chest and if you stayed long enough, you may leave with 2-3 gifts. We're talking gloves, designer scarves, cologne/perfume, jewelry, toys, things she took careful consideration in buying with the thought that "This will make a great gift". Something in that chest for anyone, everyone, young and old. Merely a gesture of benevolence, gratitude and generosity. That was his Grandma Sarah. Well that's the way I feel about goody bags.
Many are on the fence about goody bags. Some feel as if they're superficial while others think they're an added touch to a party. I'm a firm believer of the latter.
Like many of us, I love takeaways (freebies); you know, those promotional items of value you get at department stores, grocery stores or at special events. Who doesn't like free stuff?
And so it is with goody bags. To me, a goody bag is a show of appreciation; a way of saying, "Thanks for taking the time from your day to celebrate my day". And it makes the guest feel valued.
And you don't have to go for broke putting together goody bags, it just takes imagination and creativity.
That said, when your child receives an All Wrapped Up goody bag, it's not the run of the mill useless toy that breaks by the end of the day or something that just piles up in a toy bin. All Wrapped Up goody bags correspond with your party's theme. I take careful consideration of the contents as well as packaging.
The contents are whimsical, out-of-the box, useful and meaningful items that never lose their appeal. I think of what appeals to me and then my bags are vetted through my trusted 9 yr. old assistant. Just a thought.
