Most couples have never heard of a wedding day inventory list until we bring it up.

It sounds simple: a full list of every physical item that needs to make it to the venue and back, decor, signage, favors, the guest book, family heirlooms. But surrounded by a hundred moving pieces on the day itself, this is exactly the kind of detail that gets missed without someone tracking it on purpose.

After 26 years of planning weddings and events, there is something I want every couple to experience on their wedding day:

Actually being present for it.

Not checking your phone because a vendor is trying to find you. Not wondering if the flowers arrived. Not answering questions about where someone should set up.Not looking at the clock wondering if everything is running on time. And definitely not spending your wedding day solving problems that your planner and their team should be handling.

Your wedding day should be about getting married, celebrating with your people, and taking in the moments you spent so much time planning. That is where experience matters.

At Dejanae Events, we listen to you first. We learn what matters to you, how you want your day to feel, and what you need from us. Then we plan with intention and build the details around your wedding. Because there is no template for your wedding. And there shouldn’t be.

This week I finally changed something on my website I had been avoiding for a year.

My old bio led with my title. My new one leads with what couples actually get when they hire me: someone who tells the truth, plans with intention, and stays calm when everyone else is not. It took an embarrassingly long time to realize the words were about me instead of about you.

Twenty six years in, and I am still learning that the best marketing is not clever. It is honest.

Happy Monday ✨ Most couples budget for the wedding they can see and forget the one they cannot.

Florals, venue, dress, catering, all accounted for. Then the hidden costs show up: vendor overtime fees, gratuities nobody mentioned upfront, last minute alterations, permits for photos in certain locations. None of it feels dramatic in the moment, but it adds up fast if it is not planned for.

Today is a really special day for me because I’m doing something I have never done before. And after 26 years in the wedding and event industry, I can honestly say…that’s rare.

This evening, I have the honor of performing a Blessing Ceremony for OnnaBella’s Quinceañera. 👑

A Quinceañera is a beautiful Latin American tradition celebrating a young woman’s 15th birthday and marking an important transition from childhood into young womanhood.

But for me, this is about so much more than a milestone birthday. It is an opportunity to speak life, encouragement, love, and faith over a young woman as she steps into this next chapter of her life. I am honored to be entrusted with such a meaningful moment for OnnaBella and her family.

After 26 years, I’m still learning. Still growing. Still creating meaningful experiences. And today, I get to add a brand new “first” to the journey.

People assume the hardest weddings to plan are the biggest ones. That has not been my experience.

The hardest weddings are the ones where the couple has not agreed yet on what matters most, a bigger guest list or a smaller one with more to spend per person, a big production or something quiet and intimate. Once that is clear, everything else gets easier, regardless of the number on the final invoice.

My job is not to make decisions for you. It is to ask the questions that get you to clarity faster.

The parts of wedding planning nobody posts about are the parts that actually protect you.

This week alone, my desk has contract reviews, vendor confirmations, and budget reconciliation spread across it. None of that makes a great photo. All of it is the reason a wedding day runs without anyone noticing a problem.

Couples often think planning is choosing florals and cake flavors. The real work is catching a small mismatch in a contract before it becomes a costly mistake, or noticing a vendor’s insurance lapsed before it is too late to fix.

This is what twenty six years actually buys you: knowing exactly what to check before it becomes a problem.

If you are deep in vendor contracts right now, save this as your reminder to read every line twice.
