Sweet summertime in Chicago. I feel incredibly lucky to call this city home.

As Wedding Day Chicago approaches its six-year anniversary, one of the questions I get asked most often is, “What’s your favorite wedding venue in the city?” The truth is…that’s nearly impossible to answer. There are too many fabulous venues in the city to name just one. And I have a lot of opinions. (My kids should probably prepare themselves now, because when it’s their turn to get married, I’m sure I’ll have plenty to
say. 😂)

That said, there’s something about a wedding at the Drake Hotel that never fails to take my breath away. No matter how many times I walk through those doors, it never gets old. This iconic Chicago landmark, sitting along the shores of Lake Michigan, feels timeless. Every wedding there is pure magic.

As a kid growing up in northwest Indiana, I’d stand on the dunes and look across Lake Michigan at the Chicago skyline, thinking, Someday I’ll live there.

Never in a million years did I imagine I’d build a career helping couples bring their wedding day dreams to life. I get to work alongside some of the most talented wedding professionals in the industry and spend my weekends at some of Chicago’s most iconic venues.

These magical images are from Izzi & Tommy’s dream-come-true wedding day at the Drake—a celebration that perfectly captured everything I love about Chicago weddings: timeless elegance, breathtaking views, and a whole lot of love.

Sometimes I have to stop and soak it all in.

One of my favorite moments on any wedding day is the father-daughter first look. It’s a part of the day that is absolutely worth setting aside time for.

Witnessing Madeleine and her dad share this moment was something special. We were running ahead of schedule, which gave them the gift of extra time together before the whirlwind of the day took over. They laughed, hugged, and reminisced. There wasn’t a dry eye in sight.

Madeleine surprised her dad with an Indiana Hoosiers hat during their first look. As proud IU alumni and lifelong Hoosier fans, the gift carried extra meaning. Just months earlier, the two had traveled to Miami together to watch Indiana capture the national championship, a memory they’ll always share. It was such a thoughtful way to honor not only their love for IU, but also the special bond between father and daughter.

These are the moments that make a wedding day so much more than a celebration. They’re the moments that become memories you’ll carry forever.

Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, stepdads, grandpas, father figures, and the men who show up with unwavering love and support. ❤️

June is only halfway over, but every wedding I’ve had the privilege of being a part of this month has been nothing short of magical—and James & Taylor’s wedding was no exception.

The day was absolutely perfect from beginning to end. Taylor is one of the most stylish people I know, so it comes as no surprise that every detail of this wedding looked like it belonged in the pages of a bridal magazine. Thoughtfully designed, effortlessly elegant, and filled with so much love.

Oh, what a night ✨ Chris & Kelsey’s wedding was an absolute dream. Not only are they the sweetest, most adorable couple, but celebrating at Beatnik made it even more unforgettable. One of my favorite city venues—between the incredible food, flawless service, and that signature bohemian vibe filled with lush greenery and vintage touches, it felt like being transported straight back to Marrakech.
