Why we sell tickets instead of free admission ….

Let’s start with the MONTHS of planning, advertising, late nights doing layouts, answering emails and chats, bookkeeping and keeping track of who paid, who didn’t, making sure you don’t have two candle makers next to or across from one another, $6000-$10000 for the Venue rent, decor, wristbands, banners, printing, staff, liability insurance, accounting after…. the list goes on….

Production of events is NOT cheap, and not easy, but it IS fun and rewarding to be able to bring SO MUCH local talent together for a weekend under one roof! It’s about fun and community, and for some of us, it’s our livelihood… all we do. It’s ok for an event producer to make a profit. I promise, even several events per year definitely isn’t making the planner rich.

We also play travel agent, booking hotel room blocks for ZERO “commission” for out of town vendors, I, personally, feed the vendors during their setup hours (where allowed) for large events, hire people to assist in unloading, carrying, packing and reloading etc, pay “floaters” for a vendor to take a break and use the restroom, or get something to eat….

It’s exhausting, but SO awesome to see it all come together. $8 is the price of a large drink at a movie. With this amount of work, I pay HAPPILY when going to an event for the convenience of having so much fun under one roof.
