Have you ever thought of how great it would be to come up with your own invention? Lois and Joseph Leonard have done just that! Being the owners of the Four Seasons Banquet House, a unique setting that sits on 13 acres with indoor and outdoor facilities. We enjoy doing a lot of catering, cooking and serving. From picnics to formal weddings, we serve anywhere from one-hundred to seven-hundred guest

s per event. Throughout our 22 years in the food service industry,we have had our fair share of experiences with steam burns, split second decision making and chafing dishes gone cold. The most frustrating experience occurs after the hours of preparation and cooking only to have the wind blow the wrong direction and extinguish the sterno. We have tried everything, even the most common method which is wrapping the entire chafing dish with aluminum foil. Despite our efforts, the heat still managed to escape. Lois set out to find catering equipment that was safe, light weight and convenient for her and our employees to use. Ironically, there were none to be found! Lois did not stop there, together with her husbands ingenuity we created a Windblocker that would be lightweight, yet effective to withstand the breeze. Our simple and amazing invention is changing the food service industry one pan at a time. We designed a one piece Windblocker, made of light weight aluminum, that assembles in a snap, and was able to eliminate the heavy stainless steel chafing dish frame and its accompanying two sterno cups. With our Windblocker, we can now light our sternos on a windy day and have them stay lit! Best of all, our Windblocker gave us peace of mind knowing that the food we just spent hours preparing and cooking will stay hot and up to standards for our guests!
