A few weeks ago, as I rushed through harvesting flowers for bouquets, I noticed something unusual: a small green sac hanging from one of the blooms. I wasn’t sure what it was, but I hoped it wasn’t harmful to my plants. With time pressing, I decided to leave it for later inspection and focused on getting the flowers ready for sale.

The next morning, as I started making bouquets, I remembered the green sac and set out to find it. But try as I might, I couldn’t recall which flower it had been on, and it seemed to have vanished. I figured it must have fallen off, given that it was hanging by a thread.

Days passed, and while watching YouTube, I came across a video featuring a chrysalis in a more advanced stage than the one I had seen. A feeling of sadness struck me as I thought about how I might have accidentally destroyed a potential butterfly.

Then, just yesterday, a flower enthusiast who had recently bought some of my bouquets sent me a picture. It showed a beautiful, newly emerged monarch butterfly. The sight of it filled me with immense joy. It was a stunning reminder of nature’s magic and the reason I cultivate flowers. The picture now serves as a cherished memory, capturing the essence of why I love what I do and why I’ll always smile when I see it.

Maybe I don’t get out much but I have never seen this before. The spider has secure its dinner. Does anyone know what kind of spider it is? Should I be afraid, because I am!

One of my CSA members sent me this picture of her arrangement in a beautiful ceramic pitcher as the vase. It is a beautiful pairing with the flower arrangement. It looks amazing and screams joy and cheerfulness! Thank you, Barb for sharing your photo!
