🎭 Celebrating a World Premiere

The Wheeler Opera House was proud to host the world premiere of Commedia dell'arte.

Years in the making, this ambitious production showcased the power of collaboration between artists, cultural organizations, and the dedicated professionals working behind the scenes.

We're especially proud of the Wheeler team, whose creativity, flexibility, and commitment helped bring a brand-new work to life. The result was an unforgettable performance and a celebration of what is possible when great partners come together.

The Wheeler Opera House has been nominated in five categories in the 2026 Aspen Times Best of Aspen Awards: Green Business/Organization, Music Venue, Place to Work, Aspen Laugh Festival for Local Festival/Event, and Maddy Overton for Ms. Aspen.

Thank you to everyone who makes the Wheeler a vibrant part of Aspen's cultural community. The first voting round is open August 26-September 1, with the top five nominees in each category advancing to the final round September 30-October 6.

One week from today, Kelsey Cook & Chad Daniels take the Wheeler Opera House stage for an evening of stand-up from two of comedy’s most recognizable voices. Cook’s 2023 special The Hustler has surpassed 2.6 million YouTube views, and her credits include The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and After Midnight. Daniels has amassed more than a billion streams across eight comedy albums and recently released his Netflix special Empty Nester. Together, the co-hosts of Pretend Problems bring sharp storytelling, quick wit, and a dynamic onstage chemistry to Aspen on September 3.

On September 2, the Wheeler Opera House presents an evening of live music, film, and storytelling celebrating the life and legacy of Gregg Allman. The night begins with a special acoustic tribute from The Other Brothers Acoustic Duo featuring Bill McKay and Rob Eaton Jr., followed by a screening of Gregg Allman: The Music of My Soul and a post-film conversation with Lead Producer and Gregg Allman's longtime manager Michael Lehman and director James Keach.

This week, DanceAspen brings CRESCENDO to the Wheeler stage, with new works including a sneak peek of "Take Me Home", the Wheeler Opera House commissioned piece that will have its full length world premiere in February 2027. Featuring live music by Mack Bailey and celebrating the music of John Denver.
