From Brooke Skypala's family, please read the following beautiful letter:
From Brooke’s Family ❤️
This past weekend, our Amarillo pickleball family showed us what love, compassion, and community truly look like.
On behalf of Brooke’s family, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the beautiful memorial tournament held at Netplex in honor of Brooke and the other four precious lives lost.
There are no words to fully express what it meant to see so many people come together to honor their lives and surround all five families with such incredible love and support.
To the organizers, thank you for the countless hours, thought, and love you poured into making this tournament possible.
To every sponsor and participant—including those who traveled from other pickleball clubs and communities—thank you for making the effort to be there. Your presence meant more than you know.
To everyone who volunteered, donated items for the silent auction, contributed financially, cheered from the sidelines, shared a hug or memory, or simply stood beside us, thank you. Every act of kindness mattered.
A special thank-you to Hank and Netplex for donating the courts and to Picklemania for helping make this event possible. Your generosity was a beautiful gift to all five families.
We believe God can bring beauty from even the most heartbreaking circumstances. While we may never understand why this tragedy happened, we are continually reminded that God has surrounded us with people who reflect His love, compassion, and comfort.
Brooke loved pickleball, but she loved people even more. ❤️ Seeing this community come together in her memory was deeply meaningful to our family. You honored her by carrying forward the love, friendship, and joy she brought to so many.
We are grateful that the other four lives were remembered and honored alongside Brooke, and we know their families have felt this same incredible outpouring of support.
Thank you for helping us celebrate their lives and for refusing to let tragedy have the final word.
Our pickleball family has prayed with us, cried with us, laughed with us, and walked beside us. We will never forget your kindness.
May God bless everyone who helped make this weekend possible. ❤️
What a beautiful reminder that love, community, and faith can bring light even in the darkest moments.
With love and grateful hearts,
Brooke’s Family
