I want to take a moment to thank every member of our Live Loud Community for the love, kindness, and support you’ve shared throughout this year.

In 2025, our community has grown in such a beautiful way, welcoming members from all corners of the world, and each of you has added something meaningful to who we are.

This year has brought many highs and lows. We’ve celebrated the arrival of new children and grandchildren, and we’ve also stood beside one another through life-changing and life-threatening diagnoses.

We’ve shared laughter and tears, broken bread together, and raised a glass in moments of joy and reflection. Through it all, we have shown up for one another, again and again—and that is the true heart of this community.

As this holiday season arrives, I am deeply grateful for each of you. Thank you for your openness, your compassion, and your presence. I look forward to continuing this journey together in the year ahead.

The Carnation Revolution (Portuguese: Revolução dos Cravos), also referred to as the 25th of April (25 de Abril) and code-named Operation Historic Turn (Operação Viragem Histórica), was a military coup carried out by Portuguese officers on April 25, 1974, that overthrew the Estado Novo regime.

The coup triggered profound social, economic, political, territorial, and demographic transformations in both Portugal and its overseas colonies, set in motion by the Ongoing Revolutionary Process (Processo Revolucionário em Curso).

Ultimately, it led to Portugal’s transition to democracy and brought an end to the Portuguese Colonial War.

The Carnation Revolution
was the day Portugal bloomed

guns silenced by flowers,
and decades of fear dissolved
in the morning light of April 25th.

It ended a long night of dictatorship,
brought the promise of democracy,
and opened the doors to freedom,
to speech, to choice, to peace.

For the Portuguese people,
it was not just a coup,
but a rebirth—
a quiet revolution
with petals, not bullets.

And every year,
they remember,
not just what was overthrown,
but what was finally reclaimed.

Black History Month wasn't always a monthlong celebration. In February 1926, historian and author *Carter G. Woodson* created Negro History Week.

It was a weeklong celebration in an effort to teach people about African-American history and the contributions of Black people.

This effort was made under the umbrella of an organization he founded in September 1915 called the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, or ASALH.

After he passed away in 1950, the members of the Omega Psi Phi fraternity, which Dr. Woodson was a member of, did a lot of groundwork to encourage celebrating the week. The fraternity was also responsible for the push to extend the celebrations to a full month. Eventually, in 1976, President Gerald Ford became the first president to issue a message recognizing the month.
