As 2021 rolls in we say cheers!
Cheers to the couples who have had to change wedding plans, to the vendors who have pushed through to this season despite the postponements and cancellations, to every one of us, because now we are able to celebrate with our friends and family unlike so many others!
For us 2020 was actually a good year, filled with so many memories. We were able to spend time with each other and our little monkey for the first time in a long time, we added a hire range to our business which is continuously growing, and we now have a wonderful community of friends around us in Wanaka โค
2021 is going to be a big year, so cheers!

Happy Holidays everyone! We hope you have a magical Christmas and enjoy this time with your loved ones โค
We've spent the last week at beaches throughout the Coromandel and BOP, it's been salty bliss ๐ Luka may have done a fair bit of skinny dipping as only a toddler can in daylight ๐คฃ

Wine lists are hard, especially if youโre not a wine person. But donโt worry, both Ashโs are super knowledgeable when it comes to choosing a good drop and we have a heck of a lot of experience when it comes to tasting (and drinking) all sorts of wine!
So fill up your glass, have a read, and if you need any help finding that perfect vino just let us know! ๐ฅ
So many wine varieties, so little time! Here's some guidance on the world of wine and how to choose for your wine list
Planning your Wanaka Wedding? You will definitely not want to miss the Pop Up Wedding Fair this weekend by the incredible vendors of Wanaka Wedding Collective (us included! ๐โโ๏ธ)
This year it is going digital so even if you can't connect in person with us, you can still be there virtually!
To all the lovers who have now re-planned their wedding for what feels like the fourth or fifth time,
We feel for you.
We know it's so hard to have no idea what is coming in the next few days, weeks, or months.
To be making decisions around changing dates or cutting guest numbers.
To have family and friends attend virtually instead of in person.
One thing to always keep in the front of your mind during this time is that although the details around your day may change,
the who and why remain the constant.
Every plate has its gold lining

Last night was a bit of a surprise to us all and not the good kind with cake and wine ๐ฅด
Let's get through this together, look after yourselves, support those around you and be kind to one another ๐
We have no idea how it's Friday already but totally not mad about it ๐

Reminiscing on last wedding season, before everything became just that little bit different.
This was our last wedding coordination before making the move south literally the very next day!
We're definitely looking forward to coming back to Marlborough this summer for a wedding or two, and working with some of the dreamboat vendors who put together this beaut of a party๐

A wee sneak peek of two of our new pieces landing in August - the classic white dinnerware paired with possibly my fav of our collection, black cutlery๐
On a side note, when I went into business with hubby (Mr Ash) I thought he could caption our social posts. He wanted this one to be "It's Forking Black, baby!" ๐ Maybe I should have captioned it that ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Level 2 Woohoo!
We're so excited for this news and know a lot of the amazing couples out there have been waiting with fingers crossed.
One key part from today's announcement - from Thursday there will be a 10 person maximum at your wedding and elopement, this also includes vendors such as your incredible celebrant and talented photographer. If you are wanting more guests, wait for the announcement in a couple of weeks when we can hopefully move to 100 people gatherings๐ค

If you need help with any elopement or wedding planning get in touch! In the meantime we will be off getting a much needed haircut ๐๐

Happy Mother's Day to all the super heroes in our lives.
Being there for the big moments, helping us through the daily grind.
The working mums, the stay at home mums, the step mums, the amazing people who have stepped into the 'mum' role: we see you and we appreciate you!
And to all the mums trying to home school and keep up with everything else, you deserve hours and hours of alone time! And a medal. And many many glasses of wine ๐๐
We've been a bit quiet on the social media front lately and this is the reason why! We have had a rebrand and a relocation ๐ because life just wasn't busy enough!
A few months back we packed up our house and moved the family to our dream location, Wanaka. This is where we were married and was always on our 'one day' list of places to live.
Weddings and events are such a passion that the business of course came for the ride, but being in a new location for a fresh start needed a new name and an epic logo, so here we are: Alta Weddings & Events.
We have a lot of other changes coming too which we cant wait to share with you!
See this beautiful couple? This is Adam + Jessie and they are so freaking cool!
I had the absolute pleasure of closing off 2019 by coordinating their fab wedding day with some kick ass Marlborough vendors!๐ฅ๐ฅณ

| Wedding Tip |
Putting your important songs onto their own playlist makes it easier for the person queing the music. There is no hurried scrolling through trying to find specific songs and accidently putting on Highway to Hell ๐
.
Go one better and even put them in order of when you need them๐
If you and your partner have quite different music tastes it can be hard to agree on specific songs.
Remember to have an open mind and listen to each others point of view โ you're both getting married and you will need to compromise on many things in the years to come!
Here are some options to try so you can both love all the important songs!
โค Choose a few songs that you each like and play them for each other. Explain why you like that particular song, the reason behind it might sway you towards it.
โค Merge your song choices together โ create a mash up.
โค Look for a different version of the song - acoustic, a cover or maybe an instrumental version might suit it better.
And if you still can't agree then pick the moment that means the most you and choose the song for that e.g. you choose the aisle song and your partner gets choice for the first dance
How many songs do you need to choose for the formalities?
Short answer: as many or as few as you want!
Long answer (because this is more helpful ๐) is usually three for the ceremony but could be more if you wanted and 1-3 for the reception.
During the ceremony the standard is a processional, so the walk down the aisle; a song for during the signing of the marriage licence so there isn't an awkward silence; and a recessional song as you walk out as a newly married couple! You can add a few other tunes in there if you like, maybe the bridal party want to walk down to something different or your partner also wants to do an aisle walk first!
During the reception you can have two songs for the entry of the bridal party and the new couple if this is what you want to do and then one for of course the first dance!๐
