Seeds are being sown, a new garden has emerged and I've just ordered some georgeous new dahlia tubers from a local grower.
Thought I'd add some pinks into the mix for this season. Zippity do da - hope this one's as awesome as it's name. I'm a bit excited.

Healthy soil grows beautiful blooms.

Today was all about spreading homemade compost, sowing seeds and weeding around the little seedlings that are popping up.
Happy soil is teaming with life, can you spot the birds that follow me about when I garden? They flit about happily eating bugs and worms.

Fun fact : Sweet Peas can grow from cuttings....
If growing sweet peas you can pinch them, that way they branch and you get fuller plants with more blooms.
Put the pinched part (or cutting) in water and after a few weeks roots will form and you can plant out into the garden.
How fun!

Sending some Summer as the temperatures plummet. Cannot wait until spring....

Lifted some of the Dahlia Tubers today. You can absolutely leave them in the ground for a few seasons to make it easier if your soil is free draining but these beds need improving so out they come.

There are many ways to store Dahlia tubers, with varying success rates. I've settled on banana boxes, dirt brushed off, clumps stored whole wrapped in newspaper. They are then ready to divide and replant when the eyes start showing in spring.
