Come snapper fishing in the beautiful Coromandel on our 7.5m walk-around boat. It takes less than 10 minutes to travel to the majority of our fishing spots! Enjoy our standard 4 hour or full day trip. All tackle & bait provided. Boat launching:
Boaties have use of a nearby boat ramp and Anglers Lodge offers its guests a special tractor boat launching and retrieval service . Boat wash-down and fish cleaning facilities are available on site. Boat taxi:

Take a trip on ‘Anglers Lodge’ around the many islands that comprise the Motukawao Group. Experience aquaculture with a visit to the mussel farms. Sight some of the many sea birds in the area with a visit to the gannet colonies or perhaps a penguin or three. Dolphins are also regular inhabitants of the area as are whales and orca, however these tend to be seasonal. Anglers Lodge is just 1 hr 20 minutes drive from Thames, and 20 minutes from Coromandel Town. Your journey will include some of New Zealands most spectacular coastal scenery. A little piece of Coromandel history 🏡

If you’re heading north from Anglers Lodge, the Colville General Store is one of those places that feels very much part of the landscape.

In modern times, Colville has been a small, relatively isolated farming and coastal community, and the local store has long played an important role, somewhere to pick up supplies without making the long trip back to Coromandel Town, catch up with neighbours and hear what’s happening locally.

Today, the store in an iconic stop on a trip north and a little reminder of the small communities that have shaped this remote end of the Coromandel Peninsula. It's a great place to stop and grab an ice cream and a few souvenirs if you're visiting for the first time.

If you’re staying at Anglers Lodge, it’s well worth adding Colville to a day exploring north.

Common dolphins are found throughout New Zealand waters, but the Hauraki Gulf is considered an important habitat. Its productive waters provide feeding opportunities for dolphins chasing schooling fish.

When conditions are right, multiple groups can converge on the same food source.

The result can be spectacular.

Large numbers of dolphins may work together to herd fish into dense bait balls, while gannets and other seabirds dive from above. Bryde’s whales can also join these multi-species feeding events.

But once the feeding opportunity disappears, those large dolphin groups can break apart again.

Common dolphins are highly social animals. They communicate using whistles, clicks and other sounds, while physical contact, play and synchronised swimming all form part of their social lives.

So when you see a pod travelling past the Coromandel coast, you’re only seeing one moment in a constantly changing social network.

Some may have travelled together for a while, others may have only just joined them. Further out in the Gulf, another group could be on its way. 🐬🌊

It's just another glimpse into the incredibly complex marine world right off our coastline.

Bringing the family to the Coromandel without needing all the bells and whistles?

Our One Bedroom Cabin sleeps up to four, with a double bed and a set of bunks, plus a small living area, kitchenette and TV.

The communal Lodge kitchen, showers and toilets are just a short walk away, and you still get to enjoy everything else at Anglers Lodge.

Pool swims. Beach days. Fishing trips. BBQ dinners. Kids running around until they’re exhausted.

Pretty much how a Coromandel holiday should be. 🌊

The property that would become Anglers Lodge began life as a farm. Then, in the early 1970s, it started its next chapter.

The farm was transformed into a campground and accommodation, and Anglers Lodge was born in 1972. The original farmhouse became the main office, and part of that building is still our office and games room today.

Over the following decades came the motel units, cabins, ablution blocks, pool, spa, BBQ area and other additions, with different owners each leaving their mark.

But one thing hasn't changed much. People keep coming back.

Generations of families and fishing groups have made the trip north of Coromandel Town to stay, fish, explore the coast and spend their holidays here.
