Come snapper fishing in the beautiful Coromandel on our 7.5m walk-around boat. It takes less than 10 minutes to travel to the majority of our fishing spots! Enjoy our standard 4 hour or full day trip. All tackle & bait provided. Boat launching:
Boaties have use of a nearby boat ramp and Anglers Lodge offers its guests a special tractor boat launching and retrieval service . Boat wash-down and fish cleaning facilities are available on site. Boat taxi:
Spend a day fishing, or simply relaxing and enjoying the incredible scenery, on any of the many offshore islands by using our ‘Rock Hopper’ boat service. Our boat will drop you off and pick you up again after your day out. Sight Seeing Tours:
Take a trip on ‘Anglers Lodge’ around the many islands that comprise the Motukawao Group. Experience aquaculture with a visit to the mussel farms. Sight some of the many sea birds in the area with a visit to the gannet colonies or perhaps a penguin or three. Dolphins are also regular inhabitants of the area as are whales and orca, however these tend to be seasonal. Anglers Lodge is just 1 hr 20 minutes drive from Thames, and 20 minutes from Coromandel Town. Your journey will include some of New Zealands most spectacular coastal scenery. New Marine Protections in the Hauraki Gulf — What It Means for You

Love them or loathe them… from Friday 25 October 2025, new marine protection rules took effect across the Hauraki Gulf — including parts of the Northern Coromandel. These zones are designed to protect and restore rare and important marine habitats so the Gulf can keep thriving for generations to come.

Here’s what’s changing in a nutshell 👇
🌊 High Protection Areas (HPAs) — no fishing, dumping or discharges, but anchoring is fine.
🐚 Seafloor Protection Areas (SPAs) — low-impact fishing only (line or spear), with no bottom trawling, dredging, or heavy seabed activity.

🗺️ The nearest HPA to Anglers Lodge covers the northern Motukawao Islands (Happy Jacks / Elephant Cove / Black Rocks) and runs from the north end of Waitete Bay to just before the entrance to Colville Harbour.

🎣 But don’t worry — there are still plenty of great fishing and rock-hopping spots outside those zones!
