Today marks 30 years of Pokémon!

One of the biggest media franchises of all time, and for many of us, something we’ve grown up with since 1996. It’s the biggest trading card game in history, and for countless collectors, Pokémon has played a part in their journey at some stage.

You might remember your first holo pull in the late 90s. Playing at your local game store. Trading in the schoolyard. Or maybe you discovered the game more recently, as the TCG has reached another level of global excitement and cultural relevance.
Wherever your story started, today is a reminder of why we collect, trade and play in the first place.

If you can, grab a pack to rip and celebrate properly. If not, take a moment to look over your collection and reconnect with what made it special to you.

We’ll be continuing the 30th celebrations throughout 2026 at South Island Card Show in May and Auckland Card Show in August and we promise it’s going to be something worth being part of.

Auckland Card Show is returning!

Were you a previous exhibitor at Auckland Card Show or Card Market? If so, you will be able to book in your space for both Auckland Card Show & South Island Card Show from Monday 12th January.

First timer? Rest assured, tables & booth space will be available to the public from Friday 16th January.

The ultimate card experience is due south, May 2026 at the Te Pae Convention Centre, Christchurch.
