🌟 We are delighted to host “Lady Gregory in America” at the Lady Gregory Hotel 🌟

On Friday 26th September at 8:00 pm, we welcome this very special performance.

✨ Lady Gregory in America is a short opera by Colm Tóibín with music by Alberto Caruso. It tells the extraordinary true story of Lady Gregory leading The Abbey Theatre Players’ tour of the United States in 1911, when JM Synge’s The Pl***oy of the Western World sparked controversy, riots, and even arrests in Philadelphia for “immoral” performances.

This witty, moving 80-minute piece premiered at the Wexford Opera Festival to great acclaim, and we are honoured that it now comes to Gort — the very place so deeply connected with Lady Gregory herself.

🎶 Featuring soprano Helen Hancock as Pegeen/Molly, Dean Power as JM Kerrigan/Christy, alongside a superb cast of professional and emerging Irish singers, this promises to be a night of music, history, and drama.
