We should have been at Pocklington today…

The weather apps said rain all day, so we made the call not to go. Fast forward a few hours and it’s stayed dry for most of the day. Safe to say we’re questioning our life choices!

The girls haven’t stopped though. Wholesale orders are flying out, Father’s Day Boxes are being prepared and we’re excited to announce that they’ll be going LIVE TOMORROW! 👀🔥

We’re also already gearing up for another huge weekend.

Last Sunday at Skirlington was absolutely mental. We set up at 8:15am, started serving at 8:30am and didn’t stop until every last bake had gone. Sold out by 12:30pm.

So we’re doing it all again this weekend.

Both stalls will be absolutely loaded with your favourites plus some brand new bakes.

We’re at Skirlington Market and we haven’t even finished setting up yet… and already we’ve been absolutely mobbed!

There’s a reason this place has been thriving for over 40 years. The atmosphere is incredible, the traders are amazing, and thousands of people return week after week to support local family run businesses.

If you’ve never been, today is the day to see what all the fuss is about!

It’s absolutely awesome seeing all our fellow traders rushed off their feet today!

A massive thank you to everyone who has come out and supported the market so far. It’s not even 12pm and we’ve already sold through almost two-thirds of our stock! 🤯

We never take your support for granted. Week in, week out, you show up for us, and for all the amazing small businesses here, and for that we are incredibly grateful.

Right… enough talking. I’d better get back and help Laura before she kills me! 😂

PLEASE READ THIS.

This video is one of the most important videos I’ve ever made.

There’s been so much talk about the possible closure of Skirlington Market, so instead of rumours, opinions and headlines… I wanted to show people the truth.

This was filmed last
Sunday.

Look at it.

Thousands of people walking through the gates.
Families making memories.
Kids with ice creams.
People laughing, eating, shopping and supporting local businesses.
Traders rushed off their feet.
Stalls that have been here for over 40 years still standing proud.

This is not some abandoned place hanging on by a thread.

This place is ALIVE.

Behind every single stall is a real person.
A real family.
People paying mortgages.
People raising children.
People trying to survive in a world where small businesses are disappearing every single day.

Places like this are becoming rarer and rarer.

And once they’re gone… they never come back.

You can build retail parks.
You can build supermarkets.
You can build rows of lifeless units.

But you cannot recreate soul.
You cannot recreate community.
And you cannot recreate what places like Skirlington Market mean to people.

This market is part of the East Yorkshire coast.
Part of people’s childhoods.
Part of family traditions.
Part of so many people’s lives.

I never normally ask for anything…

But today I am.

We’re all set up and ready! The sun is starting to peep through and the field is filling up nicely.

Crazy to think this reel was from exactly this time last year 🥹

This was honestly one of the first reels where we started noticing more people finding our page and supporting what we do. Looking back now it’s just really nice to see how much has happened since then and how many memories we’ve made along the way ❤️

But one thing definitely hasn’t changed… I still can’t be trusted around cookies.

Thank you for all the support over the last year guys, it genuinely means everything to us. From the markets, to the website, to all the messages and comments. You’ve helped Totally Caked become what it is today.
