Big thanks to Good On Paper for asking us to put a playlist together for this months issue! Every song you will hear on this playlist is an original composition from a live band, (apart from the odd balkan trad piece sneaking its way in) With a large amount of it coming from Stroud or Bristol based artists. Its a wild mix of feral punk rock, festival party bands, seductive psych music & more, these are handpicked favourites from those we have on our label or have been working with recently. Many of these artists are playing live at our summer arts fest next week 🤟 Enjoy x

A dizzying blend of The Beatles’ melody, Sonic Youth’s noise, and The Fall’s sneer, their sound is an unpredictable trip—kaos pads, screeching feedback, electric toothbrushes, and rants that explode into soaring hooks

★ MARLO SUMI ★

Stroud’s premier suminagashi artist working with an ancient Japanese water technique -

First practiced by Shinto priests as early as the 12th century, Suminagashi is the Japanese art of water marbling. Directly translating to “floating ink”, the technique involves adding sumi ink to the surface of water, then manipulating it to form intricate patterns. A fluid canvas leads to a medium that is less controllable but brilliantly spontaneous.

Brimscombe has a massive weekend coming up in June,
Alongside our Sentient Rash Summer Fest, the Stroud Brewery has a 3 day programme of bands, music & bass heavy sounds!
Both shows are short walking distance form each other so check out the programmes and catch what you can :)

Friday 5th: 4pm - midnight
Malty Story has a full line up of Stroud bands and a market to fest your eyes on
(£10 entry)
Friday 5th: 6pm - 9pm
We have our multimedia art show and art stall open to the public so you still have a chance to catch it if you cannot make Saturday's festivities
(Entry: free/donations)

Saturday 6th: 11am - 1am
Malty Story have a full line up of electronic sounds from including breakbeat, jungle, afrobeat, reggae, dub over two rooms

Saturday 6th: 2pm - 2am
We are running our main event with a programme of underground alt/psych/punk bands & DJ's in a multimedia show

Sunday 7th: Midday - 7pm
The show continues at Stroud Brewery with the final day of Malty Story Fest including live bands, kids entertainment & a massive cat boot sale!

Cheers to .popes for an epic evening. Massive thanks to for making it sound so ace, biggest of love to everyone who came out for it, and of course to our spiritual home and our partner in crime .gigs ! It’s so lush to see the community come together!
Next stop: Sentient Rash Summer Fest, June 6th. Come join us there for a full line up of far out bands, a multimedia art show and stalls, DJs untill the small hours and more. Tickets in highlights!!
