OVER 200 OF YOU CAME THROUGH

Honestly, what a way to start Black History Month.
Our first ever THURSDAY AFTER WORK and you lot absolutely FILLED XORALONDON .

Thank you to every single person who came straight from work, played the games, made new connections, danced, drank, ate and brought the energy. You made the night what it was. 🖤
A massive thank you to XORA for having us. A Black-owned venue, a Black-owned event and 200+ of us together on the first day of Black History Month. It just made sense.

And of course, a HUGE thank you to Kunle for hosting and bringing the energy all night

We said Friday came early… and apparently you lot agreed.

NOW… WHAT’S NEXT? 👀

Black History Month is here 🖤

And I think for us, it’s always been about so much more than just looking back at our history.

It’s about us, right now.

Our culture. Our creativity. Our joy. The way we show up for each other. The spaces we’ve created because, let’s be real, sometimes the spaces we needed just weren’t there.

This year’s theme is “Honouring Our Communities” and I love that, because community is literally why The Kickback exists.

It’s the people who show up. The ones who bring someone with them. The people creating, building, connecting, opening doors and making space for somebody else to come through.

And those people deserve their flowers too. 💐

Our history didn’t start with slavery and it doesn’t suddenly stop when October is over.

So this month, we’re celebrating where we’ve come from, who we are now and everything we’re still building.

Happy Black History Month people 🖤

Big love,
The Kickback x
