🏇 RECOGNISE THIS LEGEND? 🏇

A true racing icon… Desert Orchid, pictured jumping the last before finishing second in the Haldon Gold Cup in 1990.

Affectionately known as Dessie, he made his seasonal reappearance here at Exeter Racecourse, with the Haldon Gold Cup viewed as an important prep race for the season ahead.

And what a season it turned out to be… Dessie went on to win his fourth King George VI Chase! 🏆

The Haldon Gold Cup has played host to some incredible names over the years, so much so that our rooms are named after the legends who have graced the racecourse!

🏆 God’s Own
🏆 Sabin Du Loir
🏆 Desert Orchid

A race steeped in history, with some of racing’s greatest legends written into its story🏇

Who remembers watching Dessie in his prime? 👇
