Most people can't quite place it on the map. That's rather the point.

Herefordshire is one of England's least-visited counties - and one of its most beautiful. Ancient orchards. Market towns with medieval bones. The Wye Valley winding through spectacular gorges. Red kites overhead. And an unhurried pace that most of the country has quietly forgotten.

It doesn't have the name recognition of the Cotswolds or the Lake District. What it does have is space, quiet, and the genuine feeling of somewhere that hasn't yet been entirely overrun.

This summer, come before it is.

We've written a full guide on our website - www.bartoncourt.co.uk -with places to walk, eat, explore and discover in the Three Counties.

Barton Court is a Georgian country house and barns that once was the centre of a much larger estate.

It has been refurbished and updated and now offers large and small scale holiday or short term accommodation.

Additionally, there are barns available to hire for parties, workshops, pop ups and events.

We also host a limited number of weddings each year.

We love dogs and this whole area is a wonderland for them to run about and sniff in.

However, we have to limit the number of dogs in the main house to 4 and we do make a charge for the additional cleaning necessary to make sure the place is dog-free for the next guest.

The short answer is 'no'.

Moving furniture and jumping up and down creates a lot of wear on the wooden floors so we no longer allow parties in the house.

However, the barns - perfect for parties - are available for a small supplementary charge.

Getting together with lots of friends or family is a joyful thing to do, the only downside being that a LOT of cooking is needed.
When you book the Manor House for three or more days, as a thank you, we help you with that by providing lunch on the day of your choice.
And, if the weather is fine, this can be taken outside for a really grown up picnic.
