Sometimes skiing and snowboarding are about chasing powder or perfect turns. Other times, it’s just about being outside, seeing the mountain again, and sharing the experience with people you enjoy being around.

Families are at the heart of skiing and snowboarding. ⛷️🏂

From first runs to cheering each other on, it is about the moments shared along the way — the ones that last long after the season ends.

It is one of the few activities where everyone can be part of it, across ages and skill levels, spending time outside together.

As we look ahead to next season, it is these moments that remind us why getting more Canadians on snow matters.

Ski hills do not shut down when the snow melts.

Mount Sima in the Yukon is a great example of how the experience simply changes with the season.

From staying right on the mountain in their Alpine Escape glamping domes to exploring scenic hiking and biking trails, there is plenty to discover beyond winter.

It is a different way to experience the same place.

Because great mountain experiences do not stop when the snow melts, they just take on a whole new shape.

The Indigenous Life Sport Academy in British Columbia is helping Indigenous youth discover that through skiing, snowboarding, and time spent outdoors.

By creating safe, supportive environments and removing barriers, they are making it easier for young people to try something new, connect with community, and build both physical and mental strength.

Because sometimes it is not just about learning a sport. It is about discovering what is possible.

Some of Canada’s most meaningful ski stories start with a passionate community and a few people willing to build something from the ground up.

Loch Lomond Ski Area in Thunder Bay began in 1956, built by hand and shaped by the people who believed in it.

Since then, it has welcomed generations of skiers. From first-timers finding their confidence to athletes who went on to shape Canada’s ski racing legacy.
