As you likely know, I have Catherine Farquharson Coaching going as my full time gig now, so this page is generally quiet.

However, with the Fall leaves changing, I keep thinking about all of you and your photo needs. What can I say, old habits die hard!

I hate the idea that you might not have your photo needs being served, so I am sending you this post with a list of FABULOUS photographers that I recommend. I had the pleasure of photographing this truly delightful family twice last year. Once when the baby was just born, and again later in the Fall during the beautiful change in Autumn leaves. Both times, I was taken with the ease and fun everyone was having.

Here's how to get through photo overwhelm - print your Instagram collection! As many of you know, I'm a big pusher of getting electronic images into hard copies. That are the ONLY way your images will be preserved. If you've been taking Instagram pics regularly, you might enjoy this too. You can get them in book form in all of ten minutes, and since you've posted them, they've already been selected and processed. Go to Blurb.com and choose a small book size (this is key, so you don't compromise image quality). From there, you literally upload the pics through your Instagram account. (There's an Instagram option there). Plop them in. Press Print. and I have made a mini book every year since 2012, so now we have a nice little library. We consider Instagram as a visual journal -- so now we have pics of each year documented-- in our hands. Do it!!

Closing out this year with so much gratitude. What a year! In addition to, or part of, my amazing jobs, I ended up traveling every month -- from Guatemala to BC to Ireland to Mexico to Nicaragua to Italy and farms and cottages in between. As the sun sets on this last day, I feel grateful to all that I have right here in Canada. My friends, my family, my husband, my home and the year ahead. I love New Year's for this opportunity to reflect and feel grateful. Isn't life great? I wish everyone the happiest of closures and the most inspired look forward. Let's rock 2017!!!!!! ❤️

When two photographers go on vacation, it's unlikely they do "normal" vacation things. No. Our idea of fun is to get into pretty dresses and take photos at sunset. We showed up, and let Mother Nature do the rest.

Why is it important to take time out, time away? For me, it is essential for creating a pause. Time to take stock. Reflect. Dream. Assess. In the last five days, I've had more ideas than I can get in my journal. More so much clarity. I will leave here feeling ready for the Holidays and 2017. It's easy to be busy and stay busy. Really easy. And I know my best ideas have always come when I am in water, floating. So I must make room for that and nothing else.

I've been friends with Amy Stoddart since high school. I had the great privilege of reconnecting with her in the most special way as I took business portraits for her a few years back, and then continued with family sessions as her family expanded. This is one special lady who keeps excelling at everything she does. I'm so happy to be a witness to it all. Happy birthday, Amy!!! I can't wait to see what this year brings. Xoxoxo

Is it Christmas this week and I didn't notice? I got another phenomenal homemade gift yesterday from a fabulous coaching client. Look at the STITCHING!!! There is no one like Queen Lo. No one that creates like she does. No one that loves like she does. No one that appreciates the true luxuries in the smallest things - be it a first bite of food or a spontaneous dip - like she does. BREAKING NEWS! Meghan Telpner's UnDiet Cookbook won the GOLD at the Taste of Canada Awards last night. The judges said it was the personal nature of the stories and the photos that set it apart.
I am proud to have played a small part in that, as I took the photos of Meghan, which were so beautifully placed with the food photos taken by Maya Visnyei. Feeling proud today.
Congratulations and well deserved, Meghan! It was an honour to be a part of something so important and so meaningful. You are changing the lives of SO many people -- myself included.

The UnDiet Cookbook won GOLD at the Taste Canada Awards / Les Lauréats des Saveurs du Canada.

For the first year ever the awards featured a Health/Special Diets.

I'm truly honoured and grateful to be the very first recipient.

10 years ago, when I needed it most, books like mine weren't around, for those who needed and wanted them.
