Getting wet under a chilly hawaiian waterfall definitely wakes you up. I slipped on some algae soon after, got dunked and held the camera high, keeping it dry. A little distracted I guess...

2/2 FIRE & ICE

Its raining today, but 9 years ago it was a lot colder.

A 6 alarm fire ripped through the south side of Queen st. near Bathurst. It broke out around 5am and destroyed a block filled with commercial properties and apartments. One building collapsed around 7:30am. Over 150 firefighters and 50 emergency vehicles reported to the area, no serious injuries were recorded. It was an amazing spectacle to see.
I was driving down the west side of Toronto early that morning around 7am and had my camera in the backseat. I heard on the radio what was happening and drove straight to the scene. I got as close to the action as you could. Found my way onto a rooftop on the north side of Queen St and watched the firefighters take control of the situation. Water from their hoses turned into icicles as it dripped around the fire on that cold February day.
