Some sessions stay with you long after you put the camera down.

On Saturday, I had the incredible honour of photographing a Celebration of Life in Baptiste Lake, Bancroft. I’ll admit… I cried through almost the entire ceremony. Listening to story after story, watching family and friends gather from across Canada and the USA, it became so clear just how deeply David was loved.

By the end of the day, I felt like I knew him too.

His nickname was “Grandpa Canada,” and after hearing the laughter, the memories, and the love shared by everyone there, I completely understood why. It was a beautiful reminder that a life isn’t measured by years, but by the people whose lives you’ve touched.

As photographers, we’re often invited into life’s biggest moments—weddings, newborns, milestones, and sometimes goodbyes. It is never something I take for granted. Thank you to David’s family for trusting me to preserve such meaningful memories.

Rest easy, Grandpa Canada. “It isn’t goodbye, it’s until I see you again.”

A very special thank you to Mineral Capital Catering for creating such a warm and beautiful space for everyone to gather. The thoughtful décor and wonderful food made the celebration feel just as special as the life being honoured.

A little hand held between two parents.

The anticipation of meeting someone new.
A family settling into life with someone brand new.
A giggle shared between a mother and her daughter.

The moments are different, but the reason I photograph them is the same: these are the memories that become priceless with time.

I don’t know why these never made it to my feed, but looking back, they’re still some of my favourites. ✨
