German Canadian Hunting & Fishing Club (Hubertushaus) The German-Canadian Hunting and Fishing Club (also known as Hubertushaus during Oktoberfest) is the perfect year-round venue to rent for any occasion.

Officially known as the German Canadian Hunting and Fishing Club. During Oktoberfest, our clubhouse is transformed into the Festhall known as Hubertushaus. We are an authentic German Club nestled on eight acres of countryside on the outskirts of Mannheim. The Club's Members originate from all parts of German-speaking areas of Europe and our membership continues with second and third-generation Canadians. In the 50's, many new Canadians had the desire to spend their leisure time hunting and fishing in their new environment. On January 21st, 1954, a group of thirteen dedicated men decided to form a hunting and fishing club so that they could become more familiar with Canada's wildlife and at the same time contribute to the protection and conservation of her immense natural beauty. Tradition & Culture
From the very beginning, the members strived not only to hunt and fish together but to interact socially as well. The first social function to be established was the Hasenpfeffer. Over the years this was followed by Hunters' Day, Fish Fry, Picnic, Schlachtfest, Jaegerball, Oktoberfest, and a family Christmas Party. To this very day, the desire to interact socially, to promote the preservation of the German language, and to maintain German customs and traditions as well as the German culture remains a focus for all. Our Future
We continue to have big dreams for our organization and thanks to a collection of members with diverse backgrounds who can provide broad perspective and valuable insights we will endure to shine. Involving new members, expanding membership, and embracing the next generations remains a priority to ensure a new source for continuous energy.

Their Oktoberfest Mustard is a sweet Bavarian-style mustard inspired by the rich cultural traditions of Waterloo Region and is especially delicious with Oktoberfest sausage.

SNickelFritz Kitchens was born in 2022 from a love of local flavours and family traditions and is proudly rooted right here in Waterloo County.

Their small-batch products include artisan mustards, barbecue sauces, relishes and chilli sauces, all inspired by regional food traditions.

We love the story behind their name.

“Schnickelfritz” was an endearing nickname used by the owner's Great Uncle Herb for a mischievous little troublemaker.

The name is also a tribute to the warmth, humour and homemade traditions of Great Uncle Herb and Aunt Lili, who were local to Cambridge, Ontario.

Have you ever heard of Bogenschützenfest?

It’s one of the traditions that happens during Oktoberfest at . In fact, it's the longest-running cultural event during Oktoberfest: Bogenschützenfest and the Running Boar.

Bogenschützenfest, which translates to “archery marksman festival,” dates back to the 15th century. It's based on the story of a local marksman who shot down a rogue eagle that was attacking a small child. The grateful village named him its honorary King for the year, and a tradition was born.

Today, archers come together to put their skills to the test, to compete for the honour of being crowned King and Queen.

And you don't have to be an archer to come out and enjoy the day. Spectators are welcome, and there is no admission fee.

📅 Saturday, October 10, 2026
📍 Hubertushaus, 1605 Bleams Rd., Mannheim
🕘 Registration: 9 AM
🏹 First arrow: 10 AM, rain or shine

Entry:

BTW, it's tradition that our Miss Hubertushaus kicks off this event by releasing the first arrow. Go Ava!

Then the action continues on Sunday, October 11, with the Running of the Boar, from 9 AM to 12 PM.

Founded in 1985 in Guelph, Wellington Brewery is one of Canada's original craft breweries, and this Oktoberfest, we'll be serving and selling Wellington Brewery beers right here at our club.

Wellington Brewery stands for quality, creativity, community, independence, diversity and inclusivity, and a strong commitment to sustainability.

They source 35% of their hops from Ontario farms, and 95% of their malt is grown in Canada. They also divert 98% of their spent grain from landfill, with the majority going to local farmers for animal feed.

And their commitment to community goes beyond sustainability.

Through fundraising beers, charitable events and other initiatives, Wellington Brewery supports charities and community organizations.

Their Queen of Craft program has also raised more than $50,000 for Guelph-Wellington Women in Crisis. That says a lot about the kind of local business we want to support.

Because when we choose local, we're supporting more than a product. We're supporting the people behind the business, local farmers and our communities.

Welcome to our new Support Local series!

When you come to Oktoberfest at our club, you're not just celebrating with us. You're also enjoying products from local businesses that we are proud to support.

Throughout Oktoberfest, we're going to be highlighting some of the local businesses we use and support because supporting local is important to us.

We believe in supporting the businesses, farmers and people who are part of our community.

We're starting this series with .

All of the Schnapps at our club during Oktoberfest will be from them.

Murphy's Law Distillery was legally established in 2015, after brothers Ben and Sullivan Murphy decided to turn something that had started on their family farm into a legal craft distillery.

Today, their products are available in several provinces across Canada, and one of the things we really appreciate about Murphy's Law is their commitment to supporting local.

They source their grain from local farms and mills, helping support local agriculture while reducing transportation. They also reuse and recycle wherever they can, including repurposing spent grain for livestock feed at local farms.

Their commitment to community doesn't stop there. Murphy's Law also gives back by donating a portion of their profits to community organizations and hosting charity and non-profit events at the distillery.

That's the kind of local business we love supporting. The people behind it. The local farms. The local community. And the businesses that are doing their part to give back.

This is just the beginning of our Support Local series.

We're going to introduce you to more of the local businesses we're proud to work with during Oktoberfest, so follow along so you don't miss our next feature!

Have you tried a Murphy's Law product before? Comment YES and tell us which product you've tried!
