Check out these upcoming events!

The UPEI Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation is hosting free public education sessions on the challenges and solutions shaping PEI’s changing coastline — from erosion and climate impacts to erosion monitoring techniques and the work of watershed groups.

Topics include:

Coastal Monitoring and Results on PEI- We will share how we have monitored coastal change and results we’ve found, we will also have drones set up so attendees can see them.

Watersheds & Nature-Based Actions- We will hear from local watershed groups and the Watershed Alliance on the important work they do.

Monitoring at Home- We will hear from the Department of Environment, Energy and Climate Action on the Coastal Hazard Risk Information System (CHRIS), they will provide a tutorial on how to use the system to visualize coastal hazards across PEI. We will also be showing a StoryMap that hosts all the data collected as part of the UPEI coastal monitoring program and will be demonstrating how coastal property owners can collect and upload their own data to this StoryMap.

Coastal Policy on PEI- We will hear from both the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure and the Department of Environment, Energy and Climate Action on policy actions that have been implemented from the Interim Coastal Policy Recommendation Report and the Climate Adaptation Plan.

The sessions are open to everyone; property owners, community members, and coastal stewards alike.
