Next up in our People Behind the Plate series, we’re featuring the man who helped start it all - Liam Dolan, creator of the PEI International Shellfish Festival and owner of Peakes Quay Restaurant.

From an idea that began 30 years ago to the incredible celebration of Island shellfish, food, music and hospitality we know today, Liam has been part of the festival’s story from the very beginning.

As we celebrate our 30th anniversary, we’re going behind the scenes to introduce you to the passionate people whose ideas, hard work and love for PEI have made this festival what it is.

🦞 Fall lobster season is officially underway on Prince Edward Island!

There’s nothing quite like seeing the boats back on the water, traps going over the side and another Island lobster season beginning. 🌊

A big shoutout to all the hardworking fishers heading out on the water this season — early mornings, long days and plenty of hard work go into bringing that fresh PEI lobster from the sea to our tables.

So the next time you’re cracking into a fresh Island lobster, take a second to think about the people behind it. 🦞⚓️
