🎤 **Open Mic runs from 8:00 PM until 9:00 PM.**
Karaoke Begins at 9pm
Starting next week, the performer chosen by the people attending the Open Mic July 18th will receive a **30-minute Showcase** the following Saturday. That performance will be recorded and posted on the group page to help promote them, support local talent, and continue building the music community.

Okay, so we have a new format, and a lot more interest than I may be ready for, but when has that ever stopped me from trying? 😂 Every journey starts somewhere. Mine started with a 15-watt Traynor amp, a cell phone, one wired mic (thank you Ayden from Long & McQuade), and singing to Jehovah's Witnesses while hiding behind a tree, then running away as fast as I could. 😂

Now I have a regular gig at the Eagles, and I'm hoping to convince them to let me start a 4-hour open mic and, with a little luck, eventually an open jam on Fridays. I think it's definitely time to update the community on what I have on site for gear.

**Current setup:**
• 2 Yorkville NX55P powered speakers
• 2 Shure BLX SM58 wireless mics
• 1 additional Shure SM58 wireless mic (I believe, sorry, but the generation escapes me right now.) 😂
• 1 Shure PGA48 wired mic
• Yamaha CP73 stage piano
• Behringer Flow 8 mixer (Eventually I'll upgrade to the 18-channel version, but I'm not paying double the price on Amazon. 😂)

Acoustic guitars are no problem to connect. For electric guitars, please bring your amp and we'll mic it up with the wired mic.

I'll be on site no later than **7:00 PM** for musician sign-up and to chat. I'll try to be there by **6:00 PM**. Just look for the guy in the fedora, or ask the bartender where Chad is.

Also, if you didn't already know, the Eagles runs a jam starting at **4:00 PM**. Depending on the band that day, musicians are welcome to step on stage during that time as well.

Whether you're a seasoned performer, just learning, or thinking about getting on stage for the first time, come on out. Music's a journey, and it's always better when we take it together.

Ok, so I've admitted I'm no artist, but to better understand how AI has affected so many different aspects of the community arts and music scene, after getting called out for using AI for my posters, I promised I'd give this a try.

Now, I have a lot of skills from many different careers, and one of them is structural steel fitting, so geometry is one of my strengths. Another hobby from my past was jewellery making. So, with tools in hand, I'm taking what I already know and using those skills to try to create something of my own.

This is my progress so far.

Like karaoke, it's not about perfection or a polished performance. It's about being included and feeling that rush of being the star, even if it's only for one song.

Myself? My voice can be pretty inconsistent. I really need to start transposing my song choices down into my vocal range. 😂

So, compass, ruler, and square in hand, along with a bit of freehand work, I have the beginning. I'll admit, though, the paint I'll be using to attempt to bring this to life is a bit frightening, but I'll keep coming back and see how far I can go.

Ok, so I promised an update on the new Corner Stage format.

I've been running a mixed-format karaoke and open mic, but the biggest issue has always been the setup time between karaoke and live musicians. To make things smoother, the first hour of every Corner Stage show will now be a true open mic, with up to three songs per musician. If there aren't enough musicians to fill the hour, we'll move straight into karaoke.

At 10:00 PM, karaoke will pause for a 30-minute Showcase Set. The featured musician will be chosen by the singers and musicians who attended the open mic. I'm still deciding between crowd response or a blind ballot, but hey, my crazy ideas usually come together eventually. 😂 The selected musician will earn the showcase spot the following Saturday.

The Showcase Set will be recorded and shared on the Corner Stage page to help put a spotlight on the featured musician. Hopefully, it brings them a little more exposure and maybe even a few gigs around town.

Most importantly, I encourage everyone to socialize. Meet new people, share ideas, and if you hit it off, don't be afraid to collaborate or even perform together. That part is entirely up to you, but I think it's where the real magic happens. 🎤🎶

BTW, Kimmy-okee , thanks for the suggestion to pick up a gold Sharpie. I figured a silver one might be pretty cool as well. 😊

With all the feedback I've received this week, I'll be announcing a new format for all Corner Stage shows. Whether it's hosted by Chad Ace or Emily J. Goodwin, you'll know exactly what to expect when you arrive.

The new format is designed to create a better balance for both musicians and karaoke singers, while adding a special showcase performance chosen by majority vote from the crowd.

I think this is going to be a lot of fun, but hey, I'm just the crazy guy with ideas. 😂 Now I need your help to figure out which ones are the most fun!

Tomorrow I'll let the secret out so stay tuned.
