Go Green...

There are some great options out there to ensure your event has less of an effect on the environment. Decide if you would be better off loading all of your event paper handouts into an App which can perform multiple other functions. Consider handing out Keep Cups as part of your gift bag, sign up to a floral service who re-use event flowers for another purpose.

Always ensure you have a wet weather backup - and with the winds at the moment a wind backup would also be handy! There is nothing worse than investing all of your time and money into an event, only to have it cancelled on the day due to the weather.

Event Venues love their capacity charts – it lets them know exactly how many people they can fit in their event spaces at any one time.

These are generally derived from a CAD plan or in some cases from previous events they have held at the venue.

Check the date...

When planning your event you need to ensure you check that the date works for all key stakeholders - TICK! What some people fail to remember however is to check the local area event calendar also. You could end up holding a conference in the middle of schoolies week on the Gold Coast or struggle to find accommodation because a major event is happening locally at the same time.

Don't forget to be mindful of the food you serve in your event. Even if you haven't collected dietary requirements prior to the event, it's a good idea to cater for some basics such as vegetarian and gluten free options.

If you send someone home from an event hungry, it almost guarantees a bad review!
