From Wabanaki Territory to Sydney, Australia! 🌏

What an incredible journey for our Wabanaki dancers as they continue to share our culture on the other side of the world!

On Tuesday, our dancers participated in a cultural workshop with Jannawi Dance Clan, followed by another wonderful exchange on Wednesday with NAISDA Dance College.

These moments represent something truly special. First peoples (Skijin/L’nu) from opposite sides of the world, coming together through dance, storytelling, and shared cultural knowledge. While our nations are unique, these exchanges remind us of the powerful connections between our peoples and the importance of keeping our ways alive for future generations.

And now, the moment we’ve all been waiting for!

Tonight, while many of us back home are sleeping, our Wabanaki dancers will take the stage at the world-famous Sydney Opera House as international guest performers for DanceRites 2026!

We couldn’t be prouder of the dancers from home; Kyana Kingbird, Devin Kingbird, Bronson Acquin-Mandisodza, & Peter Watson who have travelled so far to represent our communities and carry our traditions with them.

From Wabanaki Territory to the world, the culture continues to shine! 🛶

Woliwon to everyone who joined us for the Healing Walk in Menaquesk (St. John) on the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation. The walk provided an opportunity to honour our Survivors, remember our relatives who never made it home, and reflect on the ongoing impacts of the residential school system and its descendants.

This day featured Indigenous relatives from the community, Elder Dr. Maggie Paul and 4 Generations Singers who came to share their songs, stories, and teachings. They brought everyone together through culture, remembrance, and healing. 🧡
