I was recently nominated for the Avon Valley Business Awards, and to be honest… I nearly didn’t even put my name forward.

Imposter syndrome crept in, time was against me and there was excuses a plenty... But then I figured, what’s the worst that can happen?

So, as I sat in my daughter’s room at bedtime, I got to work and started filling out the submission.

And you know what? It stopped me in my tracks. Looking back at how far this little business has come, the grit, the growth, and the quiet determination that doesn’t always make it to socials, I actually surprised myself.

Sometimes you don’t realise you’re building something special… until you stop long enough to look back at it, right?

To make it as a finalist is such a wild, wonderful feeling. I’m genuinely thrilled (and a little gobsmacked, honestly) to be recognised.

To everyone who entered, and to all the finalists, huge congratulations. Such an incredible lineup of familiar names and amazing teams. I see the work you’re doing, the risks you’re taking, and the way you’re shaping our community. You should be bloody proud.

How great is the Avon Valley?

Same same, but different.

Every now and then I cross paths with my past lovers. Funny way to put it I know, but you know what I mean.

Bumping into Laura (and her beautiful family) at today's wedding was so special. I married her to the love of her life, Mike, in Dec 21 when I was still a fresh faced baby celebrant. She took a shot on me, and boy am I grateful... but more than that, this incredible lady has championed me since, and is the reason I got to be at today's wedding marrying some more legends. She is a cheerleader, a kind heart and all round superstar.

Swipe for a throw back to last time we hung out...

This one might lose me some followers, but I need to get this off my chest...

Recently, a potential client questioned my stance on divorce. They suggested that as a celebrant, I should believe couples must “stay married at all costs.” they went on to imply that any belief to the contrary wasn't acceptable in my role.

But the truth is, I don’t at all feel this way. And I don’t think it’s safe or fair to put that kind of weight on anyone.

I don’t believe in staying married no matter what.

I believe in healthy marriages. Marriages where both people are celebrated, equal, supported, and (mostly) happy.

I believe that marriage should add value to your life. It should lift you, support you, and never force you to be someone you’re not, or make you live a smaller life.

Of course, people change. Relationships evolve. And sometimes that doesn’t happen side by side.

That’s why I talk about pre-marriage education. Not because I think couples should be scared, but because I believe in giving you the tools... communication, connection, conflict resolution. The things that help you actually enjoy the marriage, not just the wedding.

And if one day you wake up and it doesn’t feel like love anymore, it’s ok to walk away. You’ll never hear me say “just try harder.”

When Ash slid into my DMs she had been following me for a while already. She said she loved my style and when her and her partner Darcy tied the knot at she wanted me as her Celebrant. Obviously, I was flattered and said yes, quicker than you can think.

The catch, they weren't even engaged yet. But when you know, you know, right 🫶

MY LONGEST RELATIONSHIP TO DATE...

Louise and John first popped into my inbox on 23 April 2021. They’d fallen victim to the pesky pandemic lockdowns, and when their original celebrant couldn’t do their new date, they were handed over to me.

That date was eventually cancelled anyway.

Since then, life happened. I had a baby. They moved to QLD. They had a baby. They moved back to WA. There were one or two more wedding attempts. Then I was pregnant again.

And finally, on 4 May 2024, 1,108 days after that first message, we actually got them married. I was just weeks away from welcoming my second baby, and they were finally saying I do.

If ever there was a marriage built on resilience, humour, and the ability to laugh when plans go sideways, it’s this one. Made even more special by the fact that their own baby boy was toddling about amongst it all, and, in true Zoologist fashion, Louise paused her own ceremony to point out the black cockatoo perched above us.

Proving that sometimes the little interruptions are what make it perfect.

What happens if I am already booked for your date?

The truth is, I’m part of an incredible group of celebrants here in WA It’s a network of supportive, passionate celebrants who share the same love for connection, inclusivity, and authentic ceremonies that I do.

So when an enquiry lands in my inbox and I’m unavailable, I don’t just send you a random list. I lean on this group to suggest celebrants I know and trust ... people whose values align with mine, and who will care for your story the way it deserves.

Because finding the right celebrant isn’t just about who’s free on your date. It’s about who makes you feel seen, safe, and celebrated. And if I can’t be there, I’ll make sure you’re in the best hands possible.

Theres no 'off season' around these parts this year - I'm still marrying lovers right through June, July and August.

It is a little quieter though, which means more room for planning catch-ups, coffee (or martini) dates and deep chats about life and love

If you're dreaming of a cosy winter wedding, there's still a few dates available. Slide into my inbox if you want to hang out and make it official.
