Formed in Kathmandu, 1974 AD has experimented with a wide range of musical styles, including Nepali folk, ragas, rock, funk, blues, and jazz. Many of their albums have been ranked among Nepal’s top ten best-selling albums according to Hits FM.

They are widely regarded as one of Nepal’s most successful and influential recording artists. In 2000, their iconic Rock Yatra concert attracted more than 60,000 people, making it the largest-attended concert in Nepal’s history.
