You’ll work in the studio with other artists, learning collaborative practice under the guidance of a professional artist.

Alphons Van Maanen (Fons).

Footscray Community Arts is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our wonderful neighbour and friend, Fons. We had the enormous pleasure of working with and being supported by Fons of BigFish for over 30 years. A wonderful artist and designer whom always had the community at the forefront of his mind and work.

Many of our artists and community have had support from Fons - whether it be advice or Fons popping in to Footscray Community Arts with his team and tools to help us realise the artists story and work in our galleries or surrounds. Fons always had a welcoming and cheeky grin as he popped by to get his morning coffee and have a chat to the team here at Footscray Community Arts.

Vale dear friend and deepest condolences to his family and friends - we salute you and all that you have brought to us and the community of Melbourne’s west though your artistry and vision.
