An oncology patient spent the afternoon pranking the Captains and then drew emo portraits of us all.

I present to you: The Mona Curly. 🖤

This was just one moment from Wednesday — a day spent in a children’s hospital that also included being goofy and singing songs on ward rounds, creating a sound healing session, hosting Wheel of Fortune on Starlight TV, and finishing as ACDC’s air guitarist while a teenager found the courage to sing karaoke on stage in front of everyone.

Co-regulating. Connecting. Bringing healing into every space and every person that needs it — and craves it.

Then I came home and opened the very first session of Anchor in the Storm — my new online somatic movement series. New technology, new faces, new material.

And what I was teaching was how to be slow and unhurried…the exact opposite of my day…However, sharing my tools of how to regulate and feel safe is exactly what I’m here to do.

Wednesday was a full one.

Ward rounds & singing to kids. Being goofy. Holding a sound healing session. Hosting Wheel of Fortune on Starlight TV. Then finishing the day emulating Angus Young's guitar skills on ACDC’s Thunderstruck, while a teenager found the courage to sing karaoke on stage.

Never a dull moment when you're a Captain Starlight. 🌊

There was the parent and kids who unexpectedly enjoyed the sound healing instruments. The calm that came over the room. The teenager who stepped onto that stage anyway. The oncology kid who took great joy over pranking all the captains, and then drawing emo versions of us.

Co-regulating. Connecting. Bringing healing into all the different spaces and people that need it — and crave it.

Then I came home and opened the first session of Anchor in the Storm — my new online somatic movement series. Creating & connecting in a Zoom space.

And it was exactly what I needed too. Slow. Unhurried. A reminder that this is what I'm here to do. And what I also need myself!

I would credit my work as Captain Starlight a huge part of getting me ready for showing up and holding space. One day it will all feel like second nature. Even more embodied and in the present.

Three years ago at Easter I launched my first Soul Dance.

And three years ago I also started my Graduate Diploma in Somatics and Dance Movement Therapy.

Funny how I birth things at Easter and bring them to life in May. It's become an energetic creative cycle I've stopped questioning.

Last Wednesday I offered somatic movement therapy to the public for the first time — 8 beautiful souls exploring movement together online. It's been a long time coming.

I'd been sitting with what to offer and to who — and then it became obvious. I could offer what I've been using myself to get through these times.

Because honestly? It's been a lot.

The sensory overload. The forever wars. The vicarious trauma of watching people suffer in Palestine, the Congo, Sudan, Lebanon. Everything collapsing into chaos in the U.S. The degradation of the earth. The slow unravelling of things we thought were solid.

If you're paying attention — really paying attention — that lives somewhere in your body. And if you don't find ways to move it through, to transmute it, to discharge it — it stays. It becomes hopelessness. Frozen-ness. Apathy. Burnout. Doomscrolling at 2am. Sensory overload. Confusion. A kind of exhausted numbness that doesn't quite lift.

These are not personal failings. These are symptoms of the times.

Movement has always been part of how I stay sane. Dance. Yoga. Somatic practices. Grounding rituals. Swimming in the ocean. Things that bring me back into my body when the world is pulling me out of it.

That's what Anchor in the Storm is. Real somatic movement practices. Nervous system restoration. Not just coping — but finding your ground so firmly that you can keep showing up, keep caring, keep moving through it all without being swept away.

Six weeks. Wednesday evenings. Online. Starting 27 May.

🌿Announcement
I’m so excited to share that I’ll be facilitating Soul Dance at the Epicure Ecstatic Dance Retreat!
13–15 March · Kurrajong / Blue Mountains

It’s a long held dream of mine to bring Soul Dance to a retreat. Not only because it’s a perfect fit, but also because it’s a DANCE retreat set in nature, and I’ll be joining other like minded souls who want to dance, eat well, drum, ground and nourish.

What better way to fill your cup?
I’ll be staying for the whole event. Who wants to join me?

Retreat details and in my bio

This was me in the 90s, on my way to see The Prodigy 🖤

God, I loved that gig. I still remember how explosive the energy was — the sound, the lights, the sweat, the collective buzz. Unforgettable.

The 90s were when my music collection really expanded. So much incredible music. So much freedom. So much edge.

The playlist for next Friday’s Soul Dance is almost set, and yes… you can expect The Prodigy and plenty more from that era 🔥

2025.

I learnt so much from you. It was a challenge. I felt pushed on every level. Mentally, physically, emotionally, psychologically.

My nervous system was dysregulated. My impatience soared. The grief, fury, and frustration I felt at the injustice of this world hit me hard.

What always pulled me through and gave me joy?
Connection, adventure, family, friends, nature, swims, yoga, prayers, music, dance, good food and work that felt meaningful.

In 2026, I want more of this. More of this means less time for stress, technology, and social media.

Does it mean I switch off from the world and what is happening? No. But I amp up my self care practices to nourish and sustain me, so I’m not merely in survival mode as the world burns.

So in 2026, I will be sharing more somatics and dance movement therapy practices, (sessions coming soon), more Soul Dance events, and more opportunities to connect together and stay embodied, present, aware and thriving. I hope you join for the ride!

Thank you for all those who attended Soul Dance this year. I loved every single one. Wishing a wonder-filled 2026.
