From automation and AI, to cleaner energy and advanced logistics, the innovations pioneered in mining don’t stay in mining, they flow across the whole economy, lifting productivity in agriculture, defence, transport, manufacturing and beyond.

Mining is tomorrow’s strength - creating high-tech, high-paid jobs, building shared infrastructure, supporting regional communities, and securing Australia’s future.

This week’s Economic Reform Roundtable has reinforced the critical role that smarter investment, innovation, and skills development play in building a more productive and prosperous economy.

Australia’s minerals industry is a standout contributor, powering the nation’s exports, supporting regional communities, and enabling the path to net zero by 2050.

Through world-class exploration, cutting-edge technology, and a highly-skilled workforce, the industry continues to improve productivity while delivering significant economic and social value.

From autonomous haul trucks to precision drilling, Australia is home to some of the most efficient and innovative mining operations in the world.

Australia’s minerals industry is delivering the essential minerals and know-how to meet global demand, sustainably and competitively.

MCA CEO Tania Constable says stable, predictable tax and policy settings are essential if we want investment, and the jobs it brings, to stay here, not move overseas.

Last week, MCA CEO Tania Constable met with representatives from Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and the Japanese Embassy for a constructive and forward-looking discussion.

It was a valuable opportunity to strengthen ties, exchange insights, and reinforce the importance of the Australia-Japan trade and investment relationship. We look forward to continuing this important dialogue on coal and minerals.

Meet Fateh. For Fateh, each day begins with entering drilling reports into the database and running the haulage report. Then he hops in the car and drives down to the bottom of the pits to observe the action.

"My brain works at 110% whenever I’m on the pit floor. During lunch, we gather in the office to watch blasts go off on the TV – it’s like watching fireworks! After a long day, I love going on a 5km run on the Marble Gum track around the camp. The sunset behind the bush is very pretty at this time of day.”
