Another life time ago, I was so fortunate to be gifted the whole collection of Gourmet Traveller Magazines by a man whose wife has died ( it was in the 90’s ) and these dated back to the 60’s …. He knew that I loved cooking and couldn’t just throw them away.
When he gave them to me he said
“Good food never goes out of style”…. That has stayed with me for ever, just like my collection of the magazines ( I haven’t missed one edition)
Fast forward 7 years today to the date and I’m just wrapping pork and water chestnut dumplings , they will be served with black vinegar and salted shallot relish
Everything old is new again

When you can’t decide on one flavour, just pick 4

As a caterer I’m always counting:
Counting slices of cucumber
Counting blinis as I flip them
Counting tart cases comming out of the oven
Counting filo squares
Counting confit Cherry tomatoes
The counting goes on and on
Last weekend we counted out over :
750 individual savoury canapés, each had at least 4 elements
130 individual sweet canapés
Each had at least 3 elements
2 birthday cakes
1 cauliflower cake
1 pumpkin sweet potato tart
I estimate we counted chopped cooked and assembled , plattered or boxed over 3500 individual elements in 24 hours.
I don’t count sheep to go to 💤 I count chopped chives, cubes of pumpkin, sweet potato and sliced strawberries

True to form , I was a bit busy to take snaps at today’s garden party , but did managed one ….thanks Archie and Kiaya for quality control on the sliding blinis before they took them for service.
Stunning day for gorgeous music, a special garden and a glass of w**e

So a couple of years ago I rang our family Physio ( he looked after my 4 sons for over 25 years ) and thanked him for his time, effort, late night calls, they had all decided that they had finished with the game they play in heaven, Will Maher you were and are a godsend …and most of all the reassurance of specialist / surgeons and rehab…..
BUT then the silly thing is they never really stopped !
Can’t say I’m happy for me , but let’s go Wyll on the Stockmans tour in Japan ###xx

Friday and Sunday were the perfect days for outdoor dinning/ picnics

It seems like a zillion years ago, but in the same vein just yesterday that I saw my brother … tomorrow he would have turned 55 …. Unfortunately it was not to be , he will be forever young …
In a bunch of flowers at his funeral there was a spring of rosemary , my mum grew a bush from that sprig, and then I took a cutting and grew a hedge …. I try at every function to add at least a sprig ( usually it’s bushels, and at my old cafe there will be plants as well ), he is always with me and he was a fantastic cook, brother, uncle and dad
It’s not weak to speak …. But unfortunately when you do the help is still not available, mental health is still a tangled mess

More Tulip Tops spam …. It is seriously so heavenly ….. whilst setting up classic music played throughout the garden , the breeze softly blew apple blossoms … it’s the last weekend to see such a gorgeous display of flowers ###x
