This is my entry for the Soma Birthday Contest:
„HOW SOMA CHANGED MY APPROACH TO MUSIC.“
Because before, I always constructed and programmed my Songs. Only since I got my Soma Terra have I realized how far removed this approach is from playing music and how much fun I’ve missed out on all these years.
An Example: Exploring the unusual intervals of an exotic Scale in order to connect its harmonic peculiarities is one of the few peaceful moments of adulthood that allows one to nostalgically and fleetingly sense the feeling with which one explored the world as a child
The Concept that this Instrument can’t be controlled via MIDI cannot be praised highly enough and is one of its most outstanding features. The built-in gyroscope and the sensitivity of the sensors convey the liveliness and expressiveness of an acoustic instrument. Every vibration of the body and every tiny gesture of the fingers—be it tapping, swiping, stroking, or bending—is resolved with such sensitivity that the user’s current mood is transmitted to the instrument—a characteristic that is unparalleled in the „Digital Synthesizer“ category.
Ever since I saw Vlad’s product presentation video at superbooth, I’ve been eagerly awaiting the release date. My expectations were far exceeded, and I’ve been hooked since day one.
Getting to grips with the device (learning algorithms and their properties and combinations, programming scales, and memorizing them) didn’t feel like traditional learning for a single second, which has always been a (frustrating) challenge for me personally, due to my hyperactivity and a lack of concentration..
Soma Terra truly manages to bring me so much joy and therefore release just the right amount of dopamine to keep me focused. This state of mind has never been easy to achieve.
Therefore, the summary and the required answer to the following phrase is:
„Soma changed my approach to music because i found inner peace through it, which allowed me to engage in better dialogue with myself and perceive the world around me more sensitively.
