Rooneys would like to address the recent post circulated regarding the retirement of our long-serving team member, Desman Kabaira.

Desman has been a valued part of the Rooneys family for 45 years, and we are incredibly proud of his contribution, loyalty, and the role he has played in our journey.

The portrayal of his retirement in recent media does not reflect the full story or the level of appreciation we hold for him. Desman’s send-off was done with respect, gratitude, and personal consideration, in a manner that was meaningful to him.

In addition to the personal farewell organised by his colleagues, Desman has been formally and appropriately recognised and compensated by the company in line with his many years of dedicated service.

At Rooneys, we believe that our people are at the heart of everything we do, and we remain committed to recognising and celebrating those who have grown with us over the years.

We thank those who have reached out with their support, and we will continue to honour Desman in the way he truly deserves.

A sad but happy day… as we say farewell to Desman Kabaira - after 45 years of service he will be retiring today and heading home to Murewa… As a farewell gift from his colleagues, Desman was presented with a “green” Scotch Kart and plough to take back home. Desman, Tatenda, Maita Basa, fambai munyasha….

At Rooney’s, acknowledging and celebrating our team members milestones in their career with us is hugely important. Last weekend we hosted our Long Service Awards where we joined Gift Kimbini (10 Years), Setfree Mutandadzi (10 Years), Arnold Davies (15 Years), Nikki Parker Ross (15 Years), Wilfred Masiya (30 Years) and our second highest number of years served at Rooney’s Desman Kabaira - who has been with us for 45 years! And who will be sadly leaving us this month to enjoy a well earned retirement. We thank-you Desman for 45 years of service, professionalism and just being a great person and gentleman.
