Came second in the inaugural IKHEKHELETHU/Our Cake baking competition. The theme was, Bake me a Ndebele story. We baked a three tier cake to tell the three parts of our Ndebele story. First tier represents inkomo, which is the foundation of Ndebele life and the institution of marriage; the cow is depicted by the cow hide in this cake. The second tier tells the second part of our story, which are the activities and celebrations that take place after two families have been united by marriage. The third tier is the home that a young couple builds for themselves after a union that is brought about by exchange of cattle as depicted by the first tier.
