Things to consider when choosing a venue for your wedding.
Some say that after the cake the venue is the second most important thing, but if there is one thing that can make or break your perfect day it is the venue. Here’s part one of the most important things to consider.
Your Budget.
The number one and most obvious thing is the budget. Are you loaded enough to afford a neat garden venue with a boat cruise and all the works or should you just settle for a High School Hall. Spending too much money on a venue can spoil the whole wedding as we have seen with some of our clients. You see a wedding held at a lush expensive venue without adequate food, poor deco not enough chairs etc. so all that venue money would have been for nothing. So you have to make sure you balance everything out check your budget find the best venue for your wallet (We can help you with that for free at Eventspace) and make sure people get enough delicious food isn’t that’s what most would have come for.
The number of Guests
For us Africans this is the hardest part when it comes to getting married. You have your immediate family you have your extended family and you have your no relation family to cater for too. It becomes a stress who to invite and who to leave out if you have chosen a small venue. Therefore, if your family is large then you might have to consider a huge garden venue or maybe even a hall. If you have a few guests then a big venue might turn out to be not necessary and might be a wastage of money. So get yourself a small venue and enjoy.
Are your Guests Mobile?
If all your guests have cars and that is a big if then you do not have to worry about the location. You can even wed at a venue that is 40 km from town. On the other hand, if you can afford to hire buses and taxis then location will not be a limiter. For those that cannot afford to hire buses then a venue near town is the best option to avoid headaches and delays during the day of the wedding. Choosing a venue near town is also quite cost effective for moving supplies and other sundries. So organize transport early to avoid the heartache of having loved ones miss you walking down the aisle.
