CHIEF MOONZE SAYS ALL SET FOR LWIINDI GONDE CEREMONY
Chief Moonze of Monze District in Southern Province says all preparations have been completed for this year's Lwiindi Gonde Traditional Ceremony scheduled to take place from 3rd to 7th July 2026.
Speaking in an interview with Chikuni Radio News Chief Moonze said the ceremony is expected to attract thousands of people from different parts of the country and beyond, who will gather to celebrate Tonga culture and traditions.
The traditional leader has since urged all attendees to conduct themselves in a peaceful and respectful manner throughout the event.
He emphasized the need for discipline, unity, and respect for cultural values to ensure a successful ceremony.
Chief Moonze further called on visitors to cooperate with security personnel and organizers by following all guidelines that will be put in place during the celebrations.
The Lwiindi Gonde Ceremony, is a thanksgiving tradition by the Tonga-speaking people of Southern Province, during which ancestral spirits are honoured and blessings for rain and harvest are sought.
