THIEVES STEAL SUBMERSIBLE PUMPS FROM MAGOYE POLICE POST

Thieves on Monday night broke into the Magoye Police Post and stole a submersible pump from a borehole constructed using Constituency Development Fund (CDF) money.

According to residents in the neighborhood, police officers only discovered that the pump was missing after residents who went to fetch water from the tap around 07:00 hours reported it.

They explained that at the time the pump was stolen, officers were only conducting day shift duties at the police post.

The thieves also stole a submersible pump from the Magoye East Constituency office.

Mazabuka Mayor-Elect Kelvin Muleya, in the company of Ngwezi Ward Councilor Soul Mwiinga, expressed sadness over the incident and called for the arrest of the thieves.

Muleya said the theft of public property is detrimental to the development of the district.

In addition, Ngwezi ward councilor Mwiinga called for urgent intervention to restore water provision at the facility.

Police are yet to issue a statement on the matter.

Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital is urgently appealing to the public for help identifying a young girl, aged approximately 5 to 7 years old, who is currently admitted at the facility.
The child was referred from Matero Level 1 Hospital following a road traffic accident and is receiving treatment for a pelvic fracture. She is able to state that her name is Memo, but has not been able to provide any further details about her family or identity.

Anyone with information regarding a missing child matching this description, or parents and relatives looking for her, are urged to contact the hospital immediately.
