RCV Awards Accused of Bias — Kings Mumbi Demands Transparency 😳

Gospel artist KINGS MM MUMBI has issued a public statement expressing concerns about the current structure and credibility of the RCV Music Awards . In his message, Kings acknowledged Radio Christian Voice (RCV) as one of Zambia’s most influential gospel platforms since 1994, crediting the station for uplifting both upcoming and established artists over the years.

However, he noted that this long-standing reputation makes it important for the awards to maintain fairness, transparency and merit-based judging. Kings expressed disappointment over what he described as awards influenced by personal relationships rather than artistic impact, talent and hard work.

He highlighted several artists and songs he believes deserved recognition, including Chilu (“Nalekumwafye”), Francis (“Luse,” “Yelele Mama”), Mr. & Mrs. Moses Chibesa (“Likalamba Ishina Lwenu”), Colin the Machine (“Afisobolola”), Vusi Fortune (“Chilemba”), Stanslous Bwalya (“Yaweh Nimwefye Mweka”), Toliwe Nyerenda (“Umulopa”), and Ruben Kabwe (“Yaweh Mwende”), among others.

Kings urged RCV to review the awards process and ensure it reflects the station’s values and legacy in the gospel industry. He concluded by calling for a music ecosystem built on accountability, excellence and fairness.
