1. The Lion of Judah
Represents the strength, royal lineage, and resistance of the Rastafari movement. It honors Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia, who is believed to be a descendant of King David and King Solomon.
2. The Red, Gold, and Green Colors
Originating from the flag of Ethiopia, these colors are foundational to Rasta identity:
Red: The blood and sacrifices of martyrs in the struggle for liberation.
Gold: The wealth, sunshine, and natural beauty of Africa.
Green: The fertile, earth-blessed vegetation of the Promised Land.
3. Dreadlocks
These uncut, matted locks are rooted in the Nazarite vow from the Bible. They symbolize a natural lifestyle, a direct spiritual connection to the earth (livity), and a distinct rejection of oppressive, Babylonian societal standards.
4. G***a (The Holy Herb)
Considered a sacred sacrament, cannabis is used in meditation and reasoning sessions. Rastas believe the plant helps facilitate spiritual awakening, deepens communion with Jah, and grants inner wisdom.
5. The Star of David

A diamond-shaped hand gesture made by pressing the thumbs and index fingers together to form two intersecting triangles. It signifies the "divine on earth," representing perfect harmony, spiritual balance, and the connection between heaven and earth during prayer.
