Truth or Dare...

Dear Artists, Here's The Truth About The Industry,

The Music industry is being run by secret societies from major record labels, distribution companies and other major media entities. The Industry is rigged & most upcoming artists don't know the real truth about this type of business industry. This is why artists run to get signed, and later on CRY when it backfires, they're all just being used as puppets (a product of the Industry). Do you know why most artists die as soon as they make it? huh, A death of a famous celebrity means more revenue for record labels and publishing companies, once you sign a deal, you automatically sold your soul, you become nothing but a pawn to be moved around and disposed of once they're satisfied. You are just a product, nothing more. Ask the mainstream artists, they're very happy in front of the screen but behind closed doors they're crying their lungs out. Being Independent also has disadvantages but it's better and it's worth it...

As Soon As You Sign With A Label They Take 80% to 85% Off Of That 100% of your Intellectual property Because They Will Be Handling Every Business Side Of Your Career While You Only Worry About The Creative Side Of Things.
This Is How It Goes,
When You're Signed The Label Gets A Beat From A Producer For That Song. The Producer Owns 50% Publishing Royalties/Mechanical Of The Song Not Negotiable (Its By Default & Its Standard) So You Are Left With 50% Publishing. The producer also gets 25% of the artist's Sale Earnings. Out of 20% sales the producer gets 4% of that. Which now means you are left with 16% in sales.

If The Song Has 2 Featured Artists, It Means Each Other Artist Will Own 12.5% Of The Song When You Sign The Split Sheets. Which Then Means You Now Have 25% Left In Your Wallet. But The Percentage Can Be Negotiated, Its Up To You & The Featured Artist Depending On What You Tell Them Via The Plans For The Track e.g Video Costs, marketing fees on your back.
Music Video, Drip(Clothes/Attire) Cash Will Be Paid Via That 25%

So All In All Lets Count How Much You Have When You've Successfully Received R200 On That Song From Publishing.

R100 Goes To The Producer For The Beat.
R100 Goes To You.
Label Still Own 80% to 85% Lets Say They Own 80%.
So The Label Takes Their R80 From You
R20 Is Your Money.

Dont Forget You Havent Paid Your Manager This Month For The Business/Opportunities He Brought On The Table.
So From R20 You Must Give Your Manager His 20% Or Whatever You Agreed On.
Meaning R4 Belongs To Your Manager.
R16 Is What You Are Left With In Your Wallet From The R200 You Made.

Before You Go & Spend Your Remaining R16. Don't Forget We Haven't Recouped (Paid Back) For The Drip (Isdwadlo/Clothes) For Your Image. Plus A Music Video Fee.

This Is The Reason Why Ambitious Ent Artists Were Always Crying. Record labels work like this. Its A 360 Deal Meaning They Get A Share From Everything The Artist Makes.

360 deals - mean that the record company participates in the income of touring, merchandising, and other income streams in exchange for their investment to launch the artist’s career. The label only cares about themselves, they make all the money and they leave the artist crying, broke and depressed .

Being Independent Is The Way To Go If You Want All The Money To Yourself But Just Know You Will Spend Most Of Your Time Handling Emails/Paperwork/Calls & Meetings unless you got orgazations like Creatives Makhado. Though your things won't go as fast and as big as artists who are signed under labels because those ones do anything just to live a lavish life. Trap, Boom Bap, Amapiano, Trap Soul, Drill, Cross-dressing, kissing the same gender, going naked, doing crazy stunts, drinking blood and doing all sorts of sacrifices... it's best you stay indie fr. What's your opinion?

If You Wanna Get Booked At The Masterclass HipHop Sundays Make Sure You Attend The Other Shows & Make Sure The Organisers See You & Introduce Yourself."

Great insights from The Bridge's host himself Dj Malefactor , there is nothing like someone with your lived and shared experience- breaking bread.

When was the last time you attended a Hip Hop show that got you like "whoaw" that was lit?

Part 17 (Bookings For Shows) Lesson By Dj Malefactor
Dear Rappers & Djs.
Lets Handle Something Important About The Shows. Some Of Yall Are Doing This All Wrong & When It Doesn't Work Out In Your Favour You Act Like We Blocking You. 😥🤦
Dear Djs & Rappers Do Attend Shows Even If You Are Not Booked. Show Up & Supoort. Connect With The Event Organisers Make Your Presence Felt. Thats How You Gonna Get Booked For The Next Event. If Your Brand Doesn't Ring A Bell To The Organisers Forget It. The Easiest Way To Help Your Course Is Attending Shows, Participating In Open Mic Slot & Make Sure You Kill Your 1 Track Set.

Event Organisers Got 1 Thing In Common. They Book Trending Artists or Loyal/Familiar Faces They've Seen Attending Their Past Events. 1 More Point Is Through Colleague Reccommendations.

Here Is A Little Warning: If You Don't Attend Shows To Support The Other Kids There Is No Way You Gonna Get Booked Unless If You Are Trending Out There. Stop Attending Shows Because You Were Booked & Chill At Home When You Are Not Booked. The Event Organisers Are Watching & Its A Small World, All This Organisers Knows One Another They Share artists Through Experiences From Their Stages. If You Wanna Get Booked At The Masterclass HipHop Sundays Make Sure You Attend The Other Shows & Make Sure The Organisers See You & Introduce Yourself. Show Up Early To Participate On Open Mics. If You Are Really That Good They Will Book You & Your Music Might Be Requested For Radio Playlisting Among Many Other Stuff Like The Spotlight RSA Feature. Label A&Rs & Execs Are Always At Events Checking Out New Artists.

Guys Also Please Stop Doing This:
Stop Miming. There Is A Reason Why Its Called Live Performance. If I Really Wanted To Listen To Your MP3 Music I Was Gonna Do it At Home On Spotify Or Youtube. When I Am At Events I Wanna See Your Performance Capabilities.
That 1 Dope Track Sounds Wack When Its Through Miming.Rap On Beats & Make Sure You Stay Away From Rapping Over Vocals. If You Don't Know That Track Leave It Dont Perform It.

Getting booked for a live performance can be a great way to showcase your talent and gain exposure.
Let me teach how you can shine on stage & maximize your ways of getting booked regularly in different shows even Back to the City Festival.

Make sure you have a polished performance ready to go. This includes rehearsing your act, perfecting your stage presence, and possibly creating a demo or video of your performance to showcase to potential bookers.

Collect any press clippings, reviews, photos, or videos from previous performances to create a portfolio that demonstrates your talent and professionalism.

Determine the type of venue or event that best matches your act. Consider the style of performance, audience size, and location. This will help you focus your efforts on booking the right gigs for your act.

Look for venues such as clubs, bars, theaters, or festivals that regularly host live performances. Research local events, open mic nights, or talent showcases where you could potentially perform.

Network Bru. Attend industry events, open mics, and local performances to meet other artists and professionals in the industry. Build relationships with event organizers, fellow performers, and booking agents who might be able to help you get booked.

Put together a professional press kit that includes your portfolio, a bio, high-quality photos, and any other relevant information. This will make it easier for potential bookers or promoters to understand your act and consider you for bookings.

Send out emails or make phone calls to venues or bookers that might be interested in your act. Introduce yourself, provide a brief description of your performance, and attach your press kit for their review. Be professional, concise, and polite.

If you don't hear back from a venue or booker, don't be discouraged. We also have a life outside of the music industry. Follow up with a polite email or phone call to inquire about the status of your submission. Persistence and professional follow-ups can make a difference in getting noticed.

If you're struggling to secure bookings on your own, consider working with a talent agent or booking agency. They have connections and expertise in the industry and can help you find suitable gigs.

Use social media platforms, your website, and local advertising to build awareness of your act and attract potential bookers. Showcase snippets of your performances, engage with your audience, and share positive reviews or testimonials.

Remember, getting booked for live performances can require persistence, networking, and continued improvement. Keep refining your act, exploring new opportunities, and staying connected with the industry to increase your chances of success.

There Are A Lot Of People Out There Who Claim They Run This Streets But You Never See Them Attending Other Events Than Their Own. 😂🤣😜 We Dont Understand What They Mean When They Say They Run The Streets, Its More Like "They Run The Block" They're Only Relevant Around Their Circle Not National HipHop.

Futhi Nakhona Cut Cut Cut.
