RIP Felix 🕯️

Felix Baumgartner, the renowned Austrian daredevil famous for his record-setting 2012 jump from the stratosphere, has tragically died at age 56.

He suffered a fatal paragliding accident on July 17, 2025, in Porto Sant’Elpidio, Italy, apparently losing control mid-air, possibly due to a sudden medical event, and crashing into a hotel pool where he died instantly. A woman in the pool was injured but is in stable condition.

Baumgartner’s legacy includes becoming the first person to break the sound barrier in free fall from about 39 km altitude, a feat that earned him global renown and cemented his status as a pioneer in extreme sports.

To all friends of the self-employed and owners of small businesses
When Rihanna launches a lipstick, people buy it. When Michael Jordan releases a new pair of trainers, people buy them. There are new headphones from Dr Dre? People buy them. Oprah Winfrey promotes a diet programme? Everyone jumps on it (if they can). Beyoncé gives a concert? The audience willingly pays 250 EUR for the tickets. A friend or family member goes freelance: Everyone is suspicious at first: "Well, will THAT work? I'll give him 6 months. But that's a bit expensive, isn't it?". Why are we so quick to support someone we don't even know and who already has a lot of money, but we find a million reasons to refuse to support someone we do know? Remember, when you support a small business, you're helping families feed their children and pay off their house payments, not adding a few more zeros to some celebrity's bank balance. So the next time a friend posts something from their small business, at least give it a "like" share or comment. You don't even have to buy the product or service. But it will help them get more exposure, which can do their small business a lot of good.
