This is one of the most powerful stories we’ve ever had the privilege of sharing.
“My journey hasn’t been linear — but it’s been worth it.
I started at Grip and Rip (sweat classes) at the end of 2023, signing up for a 6-week challenge. Not only did I complete it, but I ended up winning for the highest fat loss percentage in the group. That’s where something shifted for me — I started choosing myself.
But life happened.
We lost the father of my two children. This was after separation and getting used to separate households, and suddenly I had to adjust to raising them on my own. While navigating grief, change, and responsibility, I gained the weight back.
I was fortunate to meet a partner during this process who fully supports my goals. I’m truly grateful for him.
Then came another challenge — my brother was in a severe car accident 6 months after the passing of my children’s father. He was airlifted and in a coma for over 40 days, with uncertainty every single day. Once again, life tested me, and once again, I lost focus on myself.
But this time, I made a decision.
I wasn’t going to stay stuck.
You need time to recover and heal mentally. But I took what I had learned, started small — even at home — and slowly worked my way back. Step by step, I rebuilt my routine, my strength, and my mindset.
All of this happened in two years.
Today, I’m 20kg down — and more importantly, I’m stronger mentally and physically than I’ve ever been.
I’m also incredibly grateful to the team at Grip and Rip. The support, friendliness, and openness created an environment where you truly feel welcome — and that makes all the difference when you’re trying to show up for yourself. All three times I returned were pleasant experiences.
This journey wasn’t just about weight loss.
It was about choosing myself, even when life made it hard.
And now, I have a new goal.
With the support of a close friend who has guided and stood by me, I’m preparing for HYROX on the 30th of May. This is my next challenge — another step forward, another way of proving to myself what I’m capable of.
Because at the heart of it all, this is bigger than fitness.
It’s about being a better mom for my kids.
A better partner.
A better version of myself.
And if there’s one thing I’ve learned:
No matter how many times you fall off — what matters is that you get back up.
Your journey is yours. Keep going.”
Thank you for sharing your story so honestly and openly. You are living proof that resilience, community, and choosing yourself always win in the end.
