STANDARD BANK NATIONAL YOUTH JAZZ BAND

With eight talented young musicians from Durban, Cape Town, and Johannesburg, this is a band of young artists that made the selection for the 2017 Standard Bank National Youth Jazz Band. The band is a collective of talented upcoming musicians who show consistent growth.

“Being in the National Band for the third time in a row was humbling, but getting the opportunity to perform our own original music at the festival was an honor and an experience I will not forget. The brothers are such beautiful musicians and composers, and I feel we need to take this music to the rest of South Africa. Hopefully after the National Tour we will be able to obtain funds and record an album. This in turn I hope will inspire the National bands that will come after us to take the National Band to bigger platforms.” Dalisu Ndlazi The Standard Bank National Youth Jazz Band’s music is a blend of modern sounds with influences representative of the different parts of South Africa from which the musicians come. Each musician has selected a composition which they feel reflects their journey, sound, and talent.

The Standard Bank National Youth Jazz Band has performed at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, and at Joy of Jazz in Johannesburg.
