How awesome

When I got married I told my maid of honor and bridesmaids one simple thing. Make sure your dresses floor-length, and that you have chucks. Because to be honest on my wedding day I wanted to be comfortable, and what’s more comfortable than a new pair of Chuck Taylor? I…

Your guests eat with their eyes first, so if you want your friends and family to be excited to dig in to a slice of your wedding cake, it's time to seriously consider a unique wedding cake topper. Long gone are the days of bride and groom figurines atop your tiered confection. Contemporary couples are, instead, choosing fresh, modern, and playful decorations to sit on that top tier.

While lush flowers and sugar details are always pretty cake toppers, don't be afraid to get creative with the wedding tradition. Unique wedding cake toppers can make your confection more fitting to you and your partner's personalities or wedding theme. After all, the rest of your wedding day is catered to your personal style—why shouldn't your wedding cake be, too?

Must-Have Wedding Day Emergency Kit

One thing that shouldn’t be missing on the wedding day is an emergency kit stocked with tools to fix everything from a torn dress to a nuclear explosion—sometimes wedding disasters can feel like the latter. In any case, here’s a list of 8 essentials you shouldn’t be caught without on the big day!

1. Sewing Kit

Your sewing kit could turn out to be your strongest ally in the fight against the elements on your wedding day. Make sure this includes sewing needles, safety pins, a small pair of scissors, hem tape, and thread in colours that match your wedding dress as well as the bridesmaid dresses and groom/groomsmen apparel. The kit will come in handy if you come across snags and tears, or find any loose threads.

2. Clear Nail Polish/Super Glue

An old trick for stopping runs in nylons and tights requires the use of clear nail polish. Try to get a quick coat on immediately after you find the tear—this will prevent the tights from running further. The super glue might come in handy for fixing broken shoes, jewellery, or other miscellaneous defective accessories. A few words of caution: Don’t confuse the two! You won’t want super glue sticking to your stockings and skin.

3. Bottle of Water/Granola Bar/Other Snacks

Sometimes with all of the wedding day excitement and jitters, brides have been known to forget about and/or skimp on meals before vow time. Although you probably don’t want to get too filled up on snacks before your ceremony and reception dinner, it’s a good idea to have water and some food item on hand so you don’t have to worry about fainting or feeling sick before and during the ceremony. Hydration is always key, but a small snack, such as a granola or protein bar, will also help keep your blood sugar level and won’t have you feeling lightheaded.

4. Bobby Pins/Hair Ties/Comb/Hairspray

You know your girls have your back when they stop at nothing to make sure you have perfect wedding hair. With pre-ceremony rituals like photos (often outdoors), veils, headpieces, hugging friends and family, or hair getting stuck to the face via tears, you’re definitely going to want something to keep every hair flawlessly in place.

5. Lipstick/Other Makeup

As those aforementioned unexpected wedding day twists begin to manifest, you’re going to be glad you have some makeup in your survival kit for touch-ups. Lipstick, mascara, eyeliner, foundation: All of these have the ability to smudge or run, and you’ll want to be photo-ready when the opportunities arise—and you know they will. It’s also not a bad idea to have a drinking straw handy to avoid smudging or wearing off lipstick when you’re trying to hydrate.

6. Tissues

In our everyday lives, we all know how helpful a travel pack of tissues can be. Make sure you stock up on your supply so it can be at your immediate disposal.

7. Perfume

Assuming you want to smell as great as you look, throw your favourite perfume into your kit. Your groom will love to smell your signature scent on you all night—from your first kiss to your first dance and every first in between.

8. Floss/Mints

Keep your pearly whites fresh with floss, and the rest of your mouth clean with mints. When you’re stuck in a bind and can’t brush your teeth, these two items will keep you picture-perfect and kissable throughout the day and night.

What’s not to love about a backyard wedding? They’re intimate, convenient, and perhaps best of all, often a budget-friendly (if not free) venue. But before you write off a backyard wedding as an overly casual affair that welcomes a rustic vibe only, know that there are endless ways to transform it into anything you want it to be.

For an elegant, formal look, a tented reception can go a long way. Pull back gauzy curtains with vines of florals or greenery for a statement entrance, suspend chandeliers from above for a bit of ambiance, and bring reception tables to life with gilded candelabras and chic linens. Bringing the indoors out in the form of a luxe lounge area will also create a more elegant vibe.

But, of course, if you do want a rustic look, you can give it an elevated take by ditching the burlap in favor for a timeless trend — gorgeous greenery. Think a ceremony arch rich in cascading greens, runners of eucalyptus on polished wooden tables, or overhead centerpieces of wreaths. If you want to include lawn games during cocktail hour, lend them an air of sophistication with your own touch — stamp your initials on croquet balls or paint an oversized Jenga set to match your wedding colors.

No matter how you style your backyard wedding, nature is always a good source of inspiration — you are outdoors, after all! Pull leaves from a tree right in the backyard — with a bit of calligraphy, they transform into es**rt cards for an easy DIY. Potted trees or topiary can make for an unexpected addition inside our outside of a reception tent, or as aisle markers, while tying in with the backyard.

From a wild organic feel to a classy tented receptions, these ideas prove that a backyard wedding doesn’t have to be laidback

Our Story

We believe that happy moments should be remembered and remembered well. It thus becomes our goal to help you create your perfect wedding day.

It’s a general perception that wedding planners are meant for the rich and famous and charge accordingly. Today, we’d like to correct this wrong.

We have been blessed with an ability to plan very well and have been working in events for many years.

We make lists…lots of them and feel a personal sense of accomplishment when we manage to tick all of the items off.
